Thanks OldGoldy, but I was under the impression that Craftmaster didn't do British Standard colours? They have a 'midnight blue' but I don't think it's 20-C-40. At that price it's worth a gamble, I suppose!
I don't know much about paint, but I know that some paint systems aren't compatible. Would this be compatible with Lecher Acritop?

You could ask them!

3 weeks new! If it's faded in that time I haven't noticed it!
Online because I don't necessarily have access to a car, it's easier to get things delivered, and I know exactly what colour I want.
Can you not get some from the folk who painted your boat?

Make sure that it IS condensate that he is mopping up and not canal water!!
How old is the boat? ..................Have you had a hull survey?

Scabbler or Perago perhaps, if it chips off 'easily', otherwise grit/shot/soda blasting?

You don't say, but if you haven't already, you would be well advised to hire a boat for a week or two, to see if you actually like the lifestyle.
We have had one or two members in our club in recent years that have bought a first time boat as complete newbies, gone out on it a couple of times and then decided it wasn't for them and sold the boat on.

You can do it with melted lead too, if you can get hold of it.

Might melt the ice-cream tubs though

Hi guys, we are looking to remove our windows to touch up the rusty bits on the cabin sides then repaint, any suggestions on where to purchase new stainless screws we need about 80 each side, cheers.
I use THIS supplier - they have a website, too - www.triard.co.uk/

Does anyone have any idea who makes and supports this type?
Well, here's a starting point LINK, complete with cross-ref table.

Old Goldy I didn't realise only just read your post. Thanks for info. Lovely boat. How long have you owned her for? I have many photos of her from the 80s
It was based at Norbury wasn't it
Indeed it was. I bought her in Oct 1992 from a boatyard in Maidenhead. I would lurve some photos as she was in her early days.. When you have 5 posts I will PM you, begging for scans. Shropshire Union Cruisers/Dartline, when I passed there in '94, thought she was their experimental boat (they no longer had any records), so I'd definitely like to see any changes made over the years.

Hi there many years ago back in the mid 80s I & my family hired the above boat for 2 weeks from Norbury. Was just wondering if any of you great folk had any idea wot has happened to the boat ? Is it still around etc? love to hear from you.
Davr
Yes, it IS still around, look to the left of this post.and below.
Well it still seems to be currently licenced.
..........not after today it won't!!
It's moored 'on the hard' in Tamworth for refit.
Photo is from 2005 (she looks somewhat scruffy at the moment!

There is a lot of information on the 'net if you search Google for "CN101A"

I think you may be thinking of the discs with the steel points on them where you can use several discs side by side for big areas. had a name like Terenco and I think Black Ibis used them to repaint the duck.
.....or Perago

Hello
A very quick question.
Just booked the boat in for DIY blacking in June.
I have searched for and can't find the thread on, those grinding type thingies that go on a power drill or angle. Grinder. You know the ones, big ugly teeth for taking the surface back to steel.
If you know please tell me. I'm going mad here.
Martyn
Scabbler (rotary scabbler, that is)

but what is bugging me is the fact that my chin rests on my knees every time I sit down. I also dislike the fact that it isn't shaped like a normal toilet... but I can't have everything.
What I wanted to know from everyone's experience, is if there is indeed a cassette toilet that resembles a pumpout/armitage shanks type, or failing that, what is the best toilet to offer a sitting position similar to that of a normal household.
Any feedback appreciated.
Place it on top of a couple of 'laid-flat' Thermalite Blocks, which you can surround with a timber 'skin' for aethetics

Oh - - if it dissolved in only 12~24 months, it doesn't appear to be too good a product!
(Norty smiley)
Norty indeed.
When I pressed the 'post' key, I thought 'could I have worded that better?', 'yes' I told myself - but, what the hell - we enjoy a little titter!

Saw a chap today, using THIS bitumen paint on his hull. He swears by it, used it for the last 4yrs apparently. Has anyone else used it, does it have any merit other than (lower) cost? According to the reviews, one boatyard uses it (or did, in 2010, dissolved Feb 2011)

Thanks everyone. To OldGoldy and Magnetman, yes that's the boat. But how do you know it was the boat in question when there is no name on it? Very clever of you! The previous owner showed me some old photographs of Eden, and it was painted mostly in a bright red colour, totally different to how it looks now. As you say, it has a distinctive bow shape so that might jog somebody's memory. I guess that the boat listed on Jim Shead's web site is the said craft.
Not clever at all - simply a google search for "narrowboat Eden" (inc quotes). It's the photographer that has named and located the boat pictured.

Hi everyone, can anybody point me in the right direction regarding where I can find information of who might have built the 32ft narrowboat that I have just bought. It is circa 1983/4, and has a Ford 1600 diesel engine. There can't have been many builders using this engine at the time, that is if it is the original engine. I have contacted the CRT but their records only go back 10 years or so. The boat is called Eden, and is presently moored on the Lancaster canal. I will upload some photos as soon as I have taken them. Many thanks.
Is it this one? http://www.ipernity.com/doc/311399/26877459 - I dont recognise the builder, but others may

It's CONTINUOUS Cruiser
erm, if we're correcting.....................
On the subject tho', yes there's ignorant, selfish & miserable boaters out there, but in the main, I think we're a friendly lot.
Maybe, just maybe, you're not slowing where appropriate??
