  1. thanks for your helps chaps, Alan i run tripping/commericial boats on the Thames so am (hopefully!) relatively au fais with the Thames part. that site is great - although i would consider taking hte Oxford rather than GU canal, do the river from Oxford thanks all
  2. looking at a boat in leeds in a couple days, will need to get her down to Richmond area of the Thames. At a guess can anyone give me a rough idea of how long this might take in July (ish). a) if one is cruising leisurely if one is pushing hard, taking watches and running late found some rough ideas by Googling of about 3-4 weeks? Regards, Myles
  3. hi all, please humour me here, what are the opinions of you guys on: SPRINGER 12m (40ft) TRADITIONAL STERN NARROWBOAT £17,250 Built in 1989. Thornycroft Mitsubishi 3cyl diesel engine. 4 berth - fixed double in own cabin & convertible double in saloon. Solid fuel stove. Chemical toilet. BSC to 04/2013. Needs to be viewed - tidy modern interior let down a bit by the exterior. http://www.vcmarine.co.uk/boatsivr/bellak.htm My budget is 25k max, but am particular that i want a fixed double, and don't have much time to do a lot of work, my max length for my mooring is 40ft, River Thames Any other suggestions??? Thanks all
  4. hi - liam, i see you lurking around here! perhaps you could be so good as to elaborate on your earlier comments in this thread many thanks
  5. hi all, i myself am now looking at this boat. it seems to have been on the market a long while! the photos both on apollo duck and the considerable amount which the vendor was good enough to email me make the boat look very clean, very impressive and pretty much bang on what i am looking for. given this the above comments have left me rather dissappointed! i know next to nothing about narrowboats, but have worked on and lived on yachts and ships my entire life, so i know boats. Please could you explain if this particular Hallmark is something to really stay away from like the plague, or at what price it becomes reasonable... thaks
