  1. As the originator of this issue earlier, I have now tried the advice offered here and it has worked. I have downloaded

Firefox browser and logged in to Just Canals without any difficulty. So I guess it must have been to do with IE.

There was a massive auto-update a couple of weeks ago, so maybe that caused it.

Anyway, I'm a happy bunny again! :clapping:

Glad to hear that.. if you wouldn't mind trying IE in a day or so and letting me know?

I've had reports that it's working for most others and it seems to be working for me too (on Windows 7 - yuk!)

You can log directly onto the forum using canalforum.co.uk in the future, which may make it easier for you.

In the future if you have any issues at all, just go to HERE to get in touch with us - you don't need to be logged and it is not a part of the forum so this area should always be available and working regardless of forum issues.

Carl, send the crew an email (http://www.justcanals.co.uk/contact/forum.htm) and they'll look into it and hopefully fix your account for you.

I'm off to hide again go study a bit for my sim check.

Ps. Thanks to the mods for allowing me to deal with a member on here... I appreciate it and have given them links to our contact page for the future as you can see!

  2.

Trying different browsers at the moment.

What do you mean by reset?

Well I am having no problems on Safari and Chrome and other members are posting (yes, believe it or not) so looks like it may be an issue at your end.

Have you tried using all the domain version? JustCanals.co.uk and JustCanals.com as it may make a difference and has solved other users issues before.

A reset as in the in-built password reset that you can do when you forget your password?

If it doesn't work go to http://www.justcanals.co.uk/contact/, use the forum form and someone will sort it out for you.

  3. Then why come and suggest that "people seem to give too much time and effort into arguing over who is best."

This is a good natured thread where you are claiming an argument is taking place.

Just a tad oversensitive, methinks, Sam....unless you're trying to start an argument, of course, and then pop back to the holier than thou rubbish that is frequently spouted on JC "Oooh we're so much nicer than those nasty people on CWDF!"

Actually I just changed what I said Carl, but you replied too quickly.

I didn't mean particularly this thread, just in the posts in general and the recent waterway ranking arguments. I just think there are more important things in life.

The reason I joined in this thread was to deal with a query about the workings of JustCanals with IE seeing as I actually have the time while i'm on a bit of leave.

And when was the last time you saw me posting about how we're nicer than another forum? I hardly have time to even look at the forums these days. Like I said Carl, more important things..

  4.

I logged into Just Canals last night for the first time in a week, and there were 36 new posts, on the whole website....Nuff said?

It works for the people who use it, and frankly, that is all I care about.

I don't really mind if 1 person uses it or 50, if they enjoy it, then its fine by me and I don't really see the need or benefit of you quoting facts to prove a somewhat pointless point.

  5. I am aware of one or two members have issues using IE, and I am looking into it.

If anyone continues to have issues, use the other websites contact page to let us know.

P.s For a life / hobby which is so laid back, a lot of people seem to give too much time and effort into arguing over who is best.

  6. Perhaps someone who is a regular poster on that forum will do the honours

    Allan,

One of the JC members contacted me and pointed me over to this thread.

The link was removed due it only being your only post on JC and you should have asked one of the crew before posting a link.

Anyway, I have read through the thread and understand why you want to draw attention to the article so please feel free to post the link back onto the JC website.

Best place to put it is either the boating news or links to external website section.

    Happy cruising,

    Sam

  7. I think the people who want to be "under cover" are only those who have been private boating / share boating before.

People who have only ever hired boats (and especially the newbies) will not give a monkies uncle - especially as they will not know of the dark comments that are being said about them.............. :D

  8. Basically If summat aint yours then leave it alone, unless you have the owners permission

    Exactly.

If anyone thinks otherwise maybe you should go and get some morals!

I'm sorry but to think you can just take it.. even if you are 'within your rights' is rediculous.

it doesn't hurt to write to BW and request official permission does it?

    Rant over..

    Sam

  9. Is it possible to track down owners of a boat???

Whilst out last week we saw quite a few boats moored up that have obviously been left for a few years with out of date licenses. We passed one on the Trent & Mersey just south of Sandbatch on the way out. On the way back we saw it being moved with an outboard tagged on.

This got me thinking if it is possible to find the owners of a derelict boat it may be one way to get a cheap project boat- any ideas anyone????

    Write to BW I guess.

If the boat has not been seen to for a few years as if it was just "dumped" it might be because the owners are no longer around though i guess.. I wouldn't imagine that I would just leave my boat and not go back.

Takes all sorts though I guess.

  10. Agree, unless you moor right up next / under a motorway bridge you really will not notice it - even if it is just a distant "noise" you won't be bothered by it.

I personally think it is a lovely bit of the canal system and have had a couple of great trips in the area.

Personally i never find trains a problem either (unless moored right next to the line) as I find it rather interesting to see them hurtling past while your chugging along slowly.. not sure what it is.. but it just seems very peaceful on the cut even when your in the centre of a city such as Birmingham - so peaceful that you don't noice that you've been untied by the local chavs and that your slowly drifting down the canal... B)

Seriously though.. you will enjoy the Oxford.

I think the biggest annoyance of the holiday was some private boaters (we were a share boat.. but a very experienced one I should add) who had a bit of an attitude on them.. but we're used to it and it is all part of the fun :-)
