  1. On a cruiser stern is it acceptable to have the isolator switches on the battery boxes, under the deck in the engine hull. Or is this a breach of the bss ruling that states you should not have to move anything to get to them? I await the knowledge of the forum with Glee

Thanks John looks useful, i want something permanently mounted inside though so i get an idea of when i need to recharge, so although it sounds crude i think i will get an ammeter and voltmeter cheers Justin

Ok Thanks for all the replies. I think i will get an ammmeter and voltmeter and then go to Reading for the electrics course. Cheers Justin
  4. Ok another question for the knowledgeable, how do you apply sand to the gunwhales for a non-slip coating. Which sand do you use? and do you mix it with the topcoat and apply or what? many thanks Justin
  5. Just thought i would throw this question out there to test the consensus! What is the best method of finding out what the state of charge the batteries are in. I have seen the all singing all dancing sterling management panel £200, is their a cheaper way of knoing when my four 135 amp batts are running low? thanks for the advice Justin
  6. Thanks all Dor I know this is dangerous to say but after your post i think i understand!!!!! the ability to have the whale above the plug hole let the penny drop. in your set up do you have a trap on your bath or do you take straight off the waste to the pump. Cheers Justin
  7. I have found a slimline tray from bathroom heaven that will give me enough height for the screen, as below But i cant get my head round how to fit and where to put the whale gulper pump i have. This is my first fit out, and i dont understand does the pump have to be below the waste. does the pipe from the waste to the pump have to be a long length to empty the tray. and my questions go on and on. if someone would look at the tech drawing and give me their thoughts on a good way of fitting it with a whale pump i would be really grateful. Cheers Justin
  8. I will soon be on to fitting an diesel heater shall i fit an extra diesel tank or shall i tee off the existing supply? Thoughts and opinions greatly received. If i do go for an extra tank what do i need to know i could do with one made to measure, who makes such a thing!!

  12. Hi all I have had a stove delivered and i am now in the process of building a hearth and tiling. any recommendations about what tiles to use? the tile store only recommend clay or porcelain as they say ceramic will crack. anyone have any experience of this? cheers Justin
  13. would it be possible to plumb the boile of the stove in to the the same system as webasto central heating which already has header tank? im guessing not as the webast is the pump as well, and would need to be on to move the water but ho hum any ideas Justin
  14. Thanks gary, that makes sense so the webasto and the radiators are closed on one coil and hot water on the other. that explains the header tank with webasto, cheers justin
  15. well i got a deal on a surejust calorifier twin coil, so my stove installation is on hold for a mo until i make up my mind about all your interesting posts!! This post is for a little advice on plumbing a calorifier, it has twin coils as i hope to fit a webasto boiler, is it ok to leave one coil for the time being until i am ready to fit the webasto? and can someone just confirm i have the right idea withnthe plumbing, 1) The cold water is pumped back to the calorifier cold fill, on the way do i tap off for cold water points ? 2) the hot feed out of the tank is then split in to two one for hot water, one fro radiators? ok so where does the webasto plumb in or does that just heat one of the coils on a closed system. the knowledge of the forum is greatly appreciated Justin
