Good Morning All! Hmmm.. I have been phone around to see the availability of moorings in the Notts area (I know.. good luck! Upon speaking the mooring office at one place, once I told him I was looking to purchase a 60x10 he . gasped.. "Oww your going to be very restricted with that", "Same stretch of River","Hardly any residential Moorings","Huge depreciation".. etc.. Hmm left me quite deflated. I was looking for a wide beam to live onboard, although according to this chap a Narrow boat is he way forward. I really like the idea of having a little more space to live in, personally I like it but if its going to be such a problem Mooring it in Notts and not being able to go anywhere. Im not sure ts the right solution. My question is, Is a 10ft beam really that bad on the Trent Canals? Also is that the only place I can go.. I looked at a canal map and to my untrained eye it seemed that Birmingham\east canals and London\south would be the only areas inaccessable. Please put me out of my mysery! Thanks!

Thanks for the reply You are right I did mean Northwich Boat Company.. Fingers go faster than the brain! Has anyone had any dealings with Northwich Boat? Wondering what they are like and what quality of build thy provide, Their website looks very basic and doenst give much away about the boat spec which concerns me slightly. I know you cant make judgement on a website, but I do feel it can be a reflection of the business itself. Anyway enough waffle.. Are they any good? Thanks again!

Hi all, Im new to the forum and am hoping to buy a widebeam canal baot in the near future. The trouble is Im a real BW virgin (so to speak!). I have seen a lot of nice boats by builders such as Liverpool boat and Norwich Boat Company. Im trying to find out whos good out there and more importantly whos bad. If you could compare builder to car manafacturers, who would they be? Who would be Bently, Jag, BMW, VW, Ford, Fiat and Lada? Hope you can give me an insight.. Hope to be waving at you on the water soon!
