yes thanks to all the volunteers! I asked today "Where is the boat handling breifing?" "Over there" He pointed at the stalls. I think someone needs to tell the volunteers where the boat handling briefing is. - Luckily Baldock designed the course so we were able to ask him. Looks like an exciting course! BUT I do echo your sentiments stort_mark. It is wonderful in terms of the fact it is happening at all. I don't want to seem like a boring old f*rt even if I am one. I would be really happy to volunteer to help with this event having been here from a boat coming for the first time - there are frustrations but its a huge event with loads of boats. There seems to be the odd upset with moorings but I think that's normal of any festival. There's a lot of logistical difficulties here that I was not fully aware of. Mainly things to do with the fact of rights to moor. If someone doesn't pay it seems they can moor where they like here. Except in the main pound, I reckon they'd be lynched if they tried. Chiswick I think THINKS he has signed for the boat handling but I think he's just put his name on the list (there are masses of lists) not actually got a slot. Had a great day today and I think we have discovered how the system works. We were told to go to the information tent to book for boat handling. So Lil' Chris did, there, he was told "see that lady there with the clipboard go and see her" so he did, when he got there she said "oh go to the information tent" However, later on we did meet up with a lovely lady and we're both duly booked for the boat handling. Woohoo

Ok so I arrived... some person on a tug that kept getting in the way (I was towing) said "Go back to the visitor moorings" by then I was fedup so I just moored round the back of paddington station. What's really needed here is what they do at ricki. Clear moorings with clear allocation. Anyway I'm happy here just sad I wasted £32.00

But I've paid £32.00 for a mooring?

All the bumph I had just says about the festival. There's no layout or anything. So if I turn up with 70 foot boat there is someone there to moor me up?

I'm really confused I have mooring plates that say CC09. It appears from the posts here these are completely meaningless and I just have to try and find somewhere to put my 70 foot boat. ????

Ok Who's going to Cavelcade this weekend and does anyone have ANY idea where abouts mooring CC09 will be?

I think it's more complicated. We for instance, use our leisure mooring as a base and cruise a lot. But we do live on our boat. I can't get a residential mooring for a 70 footer for love nor money. Simply put I think if this happened they would find themselves having made a LOT of people homeless - in this climate it's simply a foolish action. Surely the money would be better spent actually getting people who live on moorings that don't pay ANYTHING and not vicitimising those who want to pay. Oh and by the way I have asked the council if I can pay council tax and they flatly said no, twice.

These are apparantly proofs so thats why they look cheaply made.

From what I heard I don't think having a duplicate card will help you if they are chip and pin plus the fact that BW I suspect will have a system that looks for duplicate transactions close to each other? But thats just speculation.

I think the issue is that if BW have to pay for something we should have to pay for it too. I suppose.

Sounds about right to me - TBH you are lucky to find any sort of mooring at all these days.

I'm not sure if they will be Chip and Pin (didnt ask) but I'm sure some bright spark will try to copy them.

Oh yes - we went for breakfast at the Toll house Cafe in Cowley and I said "here Marc give us your hat" and proceeded to take out the ketchup! Much to the amusment of the owner Iain.
