  3. I caught my first fish where canary wharf now stands my father was a stevadore ?? ( spelling) at the east india dock. Somewhere I have a huge blue book PLA !! water is in the blood I guess !!
  4. Not sure think I may be about to find out ! Just been talking to my father who is 80+ he has never commented on my obsession with the canals but just said "" used to swim in the the cut at bethnal green when I was a boy"" then went on to tell me about the boats and a once a year trip on a butty out of London to play football in a green place and how his mother would tell him off for coming home smelling of coal dust. I now pay a fortune for this and here I have a man with living memories of the original boat & butty ........................ why have I never spoken to my father about my passion!
  5. Oh no now you have done it "white chocolate cheesecake" my husband will be in the pub all week lol We have looked at shared but have decided to wait untill we can buy our own boat , it will happen one day of that much I am sure.
  6. Thanks for the warning we have hired from Bunbury , not an area we know it doesn't really matter about stoppages we just want to be on a boat !! I have looked on waterscape and I don't think there is anything to bother us too much but I will look again. This will be our sixth hire in just over a year I think we are addicted LOL !!! Just spoken to Anglowelsh and the dates are all sorted out , once again very helpfull

  9. Already wondering about Anglowelsh arrived home tonight gleefully ripping open the booking confirmation envelope to see the wrong dates on the booking !!! That phone will be red hot in the morning. My own boat is the only answer..................... Now long ago my uncle taught me how to make boats out of old newspaper

  11. I called in to union last week in person , the lady I spoke to was a bit er......... um............ not sure depends on the weather !!!!!!! Hey it's not August I was asking about :lol: Thanks to pistonbroke ( beautiful boat passsed you sometime last week ) I have found a suitable boat but I need to find out if Hoo Mill Lock is north of the anglowelsh hire base at great haywood. I'm sounding like a blonde now! I have checked stoppages and this lock seems to be closed January 5th . Why won't my husband buy me my own boat

  15. January.Stove.Hire.Boat No I'm not Mr Ramsay I'm a funny little woman looking to hire for the first week in January all I require is a solid fuel stove and a comfy chair. I don't have a day off now untill then , I am aware of stoppages and that cruising may not be possible I just need to be on the cut for a rest can anyone reccomend a good hire for that time of 2009 !! It's less than eleven weeks !! A x
