  1. Well good for you but that doesn't give you anymore right to the lifestyle than someone else who needs to work or travel.
  2. So boaters shouldnt have cars , I wonder who all those thousands of cars at Crick show every year belong to? I suppose on that ethos you shouldnt have a boat if you require a car as well to get to work just incase there are no moorings outside your workplace.
  3. Well it doesnt , Im talking about NB's only opening 1 gate. What is the beef with WB's from NB's other than jealousy? I have a small car , I don"t hate everybody with a large car or caravan or motorhome or artic lorry we all share the same roadspace. Its only a few canals that NB's have to share with bigger boats anyway.
  4. Lol , take that haters. Not to mention all the damage they do to lock gates by being lazy and squeezing through just one open gate and shaving wood off the other gate causing it to leak in the middle.
  5. Perfectly calm here Thanks , I haven't dispsraged any other boat users for there type of vessel or how they use it. My vote is against the current charging plans from the CRT. A round of applause to you Sir , this is the best , coherant , considered response that I have seen all day.
  6. Thats officially documented is it or just the way that you would like things to be? Why should hire boats or GRP cruisers get first dibs , if a boat is licensed to be on the water theres no argument......so much hate on these forums against widebeams ....not welcome anywhere. For those banging on about me saving 200 quid in 2024 , Im looking longer term at the huge hikes scheduled by 2028.
  7. Why are we even talking about mooring fees at Cookham and baliffs and local landowners etc , its irrelevant to the original topic
  8. Yep £200 this year and substantially more in future years , the rest of your comment makes no sense.
  9. Well when I first took the boat on from the previous owner it was just easier to maintain the Gold licence and it is not really until now and going forwards that there was going to be much discernable difference. I dont write mooring fees into the equation as my style of boating and movement will be the same regardless. As previously stated I was always happy to contribute to the canal network but going forwards as a non user I cannot justify the forthcoming price increases and penalising surcharges over the next five years.
  10. Yep , they might have to rename it Platinum or something like. Possibly, however at many moorings you can winter for up to 6 months without having to move every 2 weeks and in the summer you can move about and take advantage of 24hr free moorings.
  11. With the EA for 2024. £1489 With CRT. for 2024. £ 1656-£1691 With huge rises to come with CRT between now and 2028. The lady you refer to is very nice and still collects on a daily basis.
  12. I have never been on their waters but was always happy to contribute until this price hike.
  13. Could you list these opportunities for those readers out there who would like to know how to get a taste of the action. Yes that is an idiot , Ive always been under the impression that without a valid licence or BSS your insurance is invalid.
  14. Well lucky you , there's no flashes in my world.
