  1. I suppose I wanted conformation that it was done by a competent, qualified person
  2. Thanks for the reply. The boat is a leisure boat for my use only. I didn't realise that I'd put his page on the link. At least it answered my question though, but I've no idea why he insisted that I need a landlord certificate. He said he does them every year for hire boats and I told him that this boat is NOT being hired out but he still insisted that it was needed. I'll ignore that now
  3. OK I looked at this site https://www.boatsafetyscheme.org/requirements-examinations-certification/arranging-a-bss-examination/find-an-examiner/?counties=&search=SHAUN+SOUTHGATE&check-type=Private+craft and he's registered there but I've looked on the Gas Safe Register site but can't find him on that site.
  4. How do I check if he is registered for LPG for a boat
  5. I've been on a web page with the heading BOAT SAFETY SCHEME and he is registered on there but I don't understand why he said I need a landlord certificate. I told him I'm not renting the boat out but he insisted I need one. As for being registered for LPG I would have thought if he's registered for boats he should be registered for that as well As it is, I got a receipt from him so it looks like I don't need anything else I wasn't sure about the fitting so I did get a boat safety fella to check it out and he said whilst the work was a bit rough, it was still legal
  6. On a sailaway I've done, I asked a gas fitter to fit connect the stove and oven for me. He said he was registered so I let him do the job. After he'd done the job he charge me £531 and left. He did the job in May 23. He didn't give me any paperwork to say he'd done it and I've been told he should have. I phoned him today and asked him for any certification to show it was done by an accredited gas safety person and he told me he would have to visit the boat again to provide the paperwork at a cost of £50 per hour plus £30 for the 'landlord certificate' I told him I wasn't renting the boat out but he said that that's what the paperwork is called and that I can't get the boat insured without it and that I need a new one every year. This doesn't seem right to me. Can anyone confirm whether this is correct
  7. I had an account using the name karanight and this forum will not let me sign in. I put the correct password in and I was told it was wrong, so I clicked to change it and an email was supposed to be sent to me but it never arrived. My email is REDACTED I've had to register again with a different name and email address. Do you think you could sort this out for me please Len
