  1. Sorry Alan, read it wrong! Silly Kay! The thoughts of taking our 60' boat down the Thames does sound quite fun though! Kay x
  2. Yep, you're probably right. If we do really venture out past the L&L then we would be hitting the odd river here and there I guess... I doubt we'd ever get that far down south though... Still, never say never! Who would take a lot less from me? I didn't understand that comment. Its early! Kay x
  3. We're the same Lady M, can just about cope at the moment! We don't want to have to go for full-time jobs in order to pay out for that. We enjoy our 'term time' jobs so we can enjoy the holidays and go cruising! Kay x
  4. Hi Yep, I'm pretty sure that the PDF file that has the licence prices on it from BW has options for "Canals and Rivers" and "Rivers" only. I wish there was a "Canals" only one - that would do for me! I can't help with the 2nd bit! Kay x
  5. Hi all... We're looking at using the www.ineedbroadband.co.uk wireless service but wondered if anyone here is using it with a Burton Waters Install Kit? Its supposed to be for multi-PC access using the same wireless account from the provider but I need to be sure that it IS that. I've emailed them about it a few times but got nothing back. Or, does anyone know how you can share a single wireless connection that requires a login? You can't share the same connection with the same login if you both try to connect with two separate machines simultaneously so some kind of nat router would be needed with an external antenna. Does anyone know of such a device that can let you connect in this manner? Would it need to be some kind of wireless bridge or something? I'll try and explain this a bit better than I have done... With this particular wireless hotspot that we're near, you have to login to it before you can visit any other web pages. Its the first page that comes up when you load your browser and it won't let you past it until you've put your credentials in. Once a user has logged in, if anyone else was to try logging in with that same ID, it wouldn't let you on - it would say the account was in use. It may even lock it to your mac address - not sure about that bit. What we need is some kind of router where we can enter our login details into its config somehow and then use that single connection for multiple laptops on that boat... well... two. There would also need to be some way of telling the router which wireless access point in which to connect. A normal wireless access point is unable to do this as its expecting either adsl or cable on the wan link - not a wireless access point. I know wireless bridges can 'extend' a wireless network and allow ethernet devices to connect to the extended part of it but I doubt that the provider would want to do it that way as it means them adding the mac address of my access point to their equipment (and vice versa), messing about with ip ranges and setting up other encryption etc. Any help greatly appreciated, as always! 7. Hi Daniel Yep, that is what I want to do but like we've both said - its a locked down for users to delete them. If at all possible, I'd like my album and blog deleting from my account - thank you. The blog and the album have nothing in them anyway. I thought I'd said in my original post that it was my forum blog and album - will check to make sure though! Kay x
  8. Mmmm, I can't seem to find any menus that look like that in either my blog or blog settings. I did find a delete option but upon pressing it, it said that the administrator had disabled this function. Kay x
  9. Hi Dave Thanks for that - yes, it does sound exactly what mine does! Its quite scary when it just dives up like that and tries to get aboard! Jeez! I'm due over there later on so I will buy some WD40 on the way and just spray everything I can get to! Thanks again... Kay x
  10. Hi... I'm hosting my own image album and blog on my personal website and wondered how I can delete my forum album and blog? I've tried the delete option but it says that this particular option isn't permitted. Thanx! Kay x

  12. Hi Chris We've not checked it 100% but there is a hole all the way around the tiller shaft that I can get my fingers down into and there are bits of gnarled metal around the shaft where it would appear to once have had something. The tiller arm REALLY wobbles around - not just a little wobble by any means! Shall I take a close-up photo of how it looks now? Kay x
  13. Thanks Chris Will try and have a look - neither of us really know anything about engines! I'm sure we can find the air filter though. Can I adjust the tick over somewhere in there too? Kay x
  14. Hi Neil Its a Honda 10HP but I don't know its model number. Oh yes, I know where the little catch is to hinge the motor up and down and I can't physically simulate what the motor is doing by pulling it up with the catch locked as the motor seems to stay locked in place. Perhaps the forces on the catch when the engine is actually under strain from reversing is allowing the catch to slip? It seemed to be revving too high in neutral too - even after the choke was all the way back in once warmed up... Strange one! Kay x
  15. Hi all... Yesterday, we went to check on our other little 21' cruiser. We've not been to check it for quite a few months so we started the engine - seemed to start okay... We gave the gears a quick try to make sure they were okay. Forward was fine - boat started to move forward as expected!... Tried reverse... Was hard to get into gear and then... the engine jumped up in the air as if I'd released the little catch to pull up the engine to de-foul the prop! I checked the catch was secure and that I couldn't physically lift up the engine but every time I selected reverse, it jumped up - quite frightening! We're trying to sell this cruiser so I'd like to know what on earth is wrong! Any help greatly appreciated! Kay x
  16. Thanks for that Robin - much appreciated. I doubt we'll be attempting it! I was just concerned about cost. I wasn't sure if it was going to be up in the hundreds somewhere to rectify! If we can get top and bottom bearings replaced for under £100 inc labour then I'll be happy. We might as well change the bottom bearings even if they've not yet failed - get them both changed at the same time while the tiller arm is off etc... Kay x Edited to say: I will have a look for a number stamp though - might save the mechanics a visit!
  17. Thanks for that Alan - I guess the marine mechanics will know what they're doing - unlike moi!  Kay x
  18. Hi again... I forgot to say that the bearing has actually fallen through from where it was fitted and its just a hole around the shaft now - hence why it just rattles around now and you can move the whole assembly around. Gary, I've no idea which it will be as the original one is down at the bottom of the cut somewhere! I appreciate the link though! Kay x Thanks for that Denboy - I didn't realise you could suspend it - I guess you could do that from the weed hatch? Anyway, will see what PB Mechanics say tomorrow. I also noticed a week or so ago when we went out - in reverse (with quite a few revs) - water was coming up through the bottom of where the tiller connects! Was this the start of the problems? Hehe! Kay x
  19. Thanks for that CW - much appreciated. There is like a little collar around the shaft - where it goes down into the boat and yes, it has two bolts in it. Thanks for taking time to have a look at the photos! Kay x Thanks for that Gary, will have a little looksky! Kay x
  20. Thanks for that Denboy but I doubt we'd even attempt it - what if the rudder drops out of the bottom and sinks to the bottom? Eeek! I think we'll be asking PB to do the work. I'd certainly be asking them to replace the complete thing as there is a chance the other bits will fail too - if the top one has - I've just done a few google searches and I think its the "rudder stock bearing" ? Anyway, will be contacting them tomorrow and hope its not too much to fix! Kay x
  21. Hi all... We went out for a cruise on Saturday and noticed that the tiller seemed quite loose. When we got back, we were informed that the top bearings had gone - allowing the tiller to wobble in its fixings at the top where the tiller arm fits on. Someone suggested that the job is possible without being taken out of the water but I'm not 100% Are we talking a really expensive job to sort this? Hope it doesn't need to come out of the water???? Eeeek! I've attached the photo just in case anyone can fathom out if its possible to fix without being craned out!?!? Kay x
  22. Thanks Bazza I can't take the credit for my current avatar - she's a Wolford hosiery model. Amazing isn't she! Kay x Sorry for the
