  1. Thank you for everyone's help on this. I will have a look to see if something has moved out of line but its not easy with it being the grill !! Kay x
  2. Eeek! Will have to look when I get home and post the details... Its cream, if that helps? Kay x
  3. Mmm.... Makes sense I suppose... You just have to keep it held in, which can be boring when grilling certain things... That was a joke, I've not really stood there holding it in while I was cooking... Kay x
  4. Thanks for everyone's help. Will have a word with the local boatyard and see what they suggest. Can it fail a BSC with that bit not working or do they only check the cooker for leaks? Kay x

  7. Do you think its something that a domestic gas engineer would know about? What I mean is - its not narrowboat specific is it? Kay x
  8. Hi all... When I try and light the gas grill, I hold the knob in ( ) and then light the gas. When I release the knob ( ) - it goes out again straight away. I know you have to keep it pressed in for about 5 seconds (like the oven and hob) but it wont stay lit. Have I killed it? Kay x

  14. The Royal Mail seem to redirect some things but not others to us too. They often send non-government things to the original address. It just happens that our old landlord has been kind enough to collect the stuff they've posted there and takes it to my parent's house. It really bugs me this, as I've paid for a service from them! Fair enough, if they're unable to redirect official stuff then so be it but it does worry me that other stuff slips through the net! Oh well... Rant over... Kay x

  16. Hi You could disconnect the ring at its furthest socket (and in the consumer unit) - giving you two radial circuits and then see which one still keeps tripping. This will tell you which side of the (old) ring was the problem. Once you have isolated a particular side of the (old) ring - you'd have to start checking sockets and cable runs on that particular stretch of cable. Its somewhere to start anyway... You'd need to meter out one cable from the other one to ensure you had the correct side connected into the MCB and the furthest socket. The other cable needs to be isolated while you're working on it even though it SHOULDN'T theoretically be live! REMEMBER TO ISOLATE ANY BARE RING CABLE THAT YOU'RE NOT TESTING (WHERE YOU DISCONNECTED THE RING AND IN THE CONSUMER UNIT) AND MAKE SURE THE OTHER CABLE IS CONNECTED TO THE SOCKET (AS THE SOCKET MAY BE THE PROBLEM!) 18. I see your point about the less secure bit. Perhaps if something is so obviously highly secured then this may well be too much of a magnet to the dedicated thief. Its likely that less damage will occur if security is a lot less but nothing gets away from the fact - high security or low security - I guess the boat will never feel the same again after knowing that someone has been on there uninvited with full intentions of robbing anything you have of any value. Its sickening what people will do for money/drugs/thrills/fun! Really sorry to hear about the break in, it happened to me in a house I had many years ago and it never felt the same after that. Kay x
  19. It seems that their "Ethernet Modem - 1 x single PC" will actually support multiple machines even though it states "single PC" - so I've gone for that kit instead. That Button Waters kit is something entirely different and not what I was thinking about at all... Silly me... So, will see if it all works when it arrives... I've already got a separate Ethernet firewall I can use between our machines and their router as I don't know how good their firewall systems are... Kay x
  20. Thanks everyone, I've now ordered bits for the stove. Can't wait to get them now and get it back on again - really missed it! Kay x
  21. I've managed to source one in a nearby town. Also had to order the centre grate, back firebrick and two side firebricks. Mine were pretty shot at so I thought it best to get new ones! Price? Too scared to say! Kay x
  22. That's the one! Perfect! Thanks to everyone that has repied on this - I really appreciate it. I just need to find somewhere in Lancashire that stocks them. I will ask the chandlery if they can get hold of spares first as they're the closest. Thanks again everyone... Kay x
  23. Thanks for that, but its the whole grate that has snapped (and the round bit) so I've got absolutely nothing I can use at the moment to patch it up. Kay x
