  1. Just picked her up from Iver on the Slough Arm for the new owner and moving up the Grand Union for a new home in Sheffield, she's running well, however has been neglected a bit by the last owner, still looks good on the outside though Alfie looking after the old lady
  2. I'm going to post useless threads every hour,AAHHHHHHHH Oh to be Long Standing Member instead of just a member like Dean, Still confused
  3. Sorry you can't use words like that, you've got to use either catogories 1-5 or 6-8, or maybe you can start catogaries for Sprogs 1A-5A or 6A-8A, than would a Sprog be an "A" or an X,Y or Z and "A" would be an "Old Sweat" of the Canals????? Still confused
  4. Just dreading when Dean sets off CC with a full boat, the posts will be coming thick and fast, like "Tesco bag on my prop! why are there so many tesco bags in the canal and not ASDA bags?" new thread "Seen some Ducks today with some Swans, can I feed them the same food?" New thread "Seen a pink and lime boat on the canal today are these traditional colours?" can't wait, that's when I'll loose the will to live, a bit like this pointless thread, you need to mix a bit more with people and stay off the laptops
  5. Last time I went through all we had in terms of comms were mobile phones, we spoke to the lock keeper at Cromwell who advised us what time to leave Newark so we would be with the tide and we also had to wait at Gainsbourgh for a few hours and also due to the time of year we had to stay at Torksey overnight then leave mid morning in order to get into Keadby with the tide, all the way the lock keepers new we were on our way and were waiting for us, so I would say give them a ring prior at Cromwell to discuss your plans
  6. Are you sure the 3 large flexihoses outlet pipes from the side of your engine exiting through the roof are actually outlet pipes and not air inlet pipes???? maybe you should try and get a Lister SR3 manual before you start experimenting with cutting things especially air intake pipes
  7. I just get so confused by Deans posts, they go off in so many directions and sometimes show very little common sense or experience in the real world, I just worry to what's he letting his family into, it's sometimes frightening with his mind thoughts and ideas on gas heaters, petrol generators, exhausts and engines, When does the rosy dream of living afloat suddenly become not that rosey anymore???????,
  8. It helps if you start with the basics and make sure all the places that draughts come through are sorted first before you start thinking about heat exchangers, trunking etc, especially if you have no engineering, technical and fabricating experience, you say the doors for the back cabin will be closed when the engine is running and the hatches open???? Do you really know what you want and time is running out before they all make the move onboard, stick to the basics until you get some hands on experience, I just don't know where your going to get it from by reading your other posts
  9. why not try putting a Eco-Fan on top of the engine, anyone tried it???? if the back cabin is only 4' away and the engine produces enough heat problem solved, can it be that simple???????
  10. I have totally lost the plot now after watching that, he was running warm air for the tumble dryer outlet through his exchanger, what's going to generate your warm air? are you saying your thinking about incorporating something like that in your exhaust system somewhere and the heat off the exhaust fumes/outlet would generate the warm air through the through pipes???
  11. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  12. Am I missing something here, just go and buy a second hand Webasto C top or a Webasto air blower type off EBay, instead of trying to make a Mickey Mouse contraption of fans, piping, heat exchangers etc???? just to blow engine heat and smells around the boat, there are easy solutions out there instead of trying to re-invent the wheel, OK it might cost you something and you say your short of money, but whats important heating the boat and making it comfortable for everyone or the in-law watching SKY football, I'd rather be warm watching match of the day then cold and watching live football, simple
  13. Why not try a electric oil heater like the Delongi Bambino they come in 3 sizes and are excellent, keep away from gas condensation ruins your boat
  14. I apoligise Dean, but it seems that it is far easier these days to post threads then to think out a logical solution to a problem, often a simple one. This is something that alot of people seem to do, with the reason "well I'll just ask the internet forum" soon alot of the internet generation will loose the ability to think for themselves and to look outside the box for answers, so please don't take my posts the wrong way, just take a step back and try to think of an answer/solution to the problem before rushing to add another post to your count. maybe just try ang ask someone it the Marina and get to know them, as I say nothing personal
  15. Maybe a little common sense or a little research and search may help Dean's case, instead of all his posts most of which are quit easy to figure out if thought about instead of the easy solution "Oh I'll do a new post on the Forum"
  16. Lol, he may have to run his roof generator for a while, just when there's football on the box though
  17. Hi you've got no chance tomorrow, had a call off the lock keeper at Tinsley, ICKLES lock went down yesterday, engineer on site today, latest was it could be out for a month???? lock gates gone and may need to be craned out, from Waterscape site today: Stoppage: Ickles Lock 22 Feb 2011 until further notice Associated Regional Office: North East Waterways One of the lock gates has become damaged and is inoperable. We are awaiting an inspection by an engineer tomorrow to assess the damage and advise on repairs. We will issue an update tomorrow afternoon, once the engineer has been to site. British Waterways apologise for the inconvenience.
  18. what's the visitor rate for a month with no electric for Deans 58' boat and family of 6?
  19. What you must realise is that Marina's cost money to run something that most members here realise and if it was that easy just to stay in them as long as you like on visitor moorings then the good ones would be impossible to visit for a few days. If you think you'll be able to rock up to a Marina, Private or BWML and stay over their designated visitor period without prior arangement and payment you need to wake up and do your research, even if you phone up months before and arrange it, their unlikly to reserve anything as most boaters don't even bother showing up due to stoppages and change of plans such is the waterways. Why ask for a month when you only need 16 days? Do you want to live on the boat for 16 days or just leave it securely for that period? you'll find Marina managers are understanding to genuine needs but they may put a fee on your nightly stay and you must leave all your contact details with them. What they don't like is people who say there only staying for a few days and their still there two weeks later and have just left their boat or are impossible to contact or come out with so many lame excuses why they can't move. The last thing a Marina Manager wants to do is to tow a genuine boat out of his Marina and leave it on the canal side because of a idiot boat owner or one who thinks everything in life is free and who spoils it for everyone else, which one are you going to be???????? OK you imagine most private marina's wouldn't have a problem with you staying for a month, so how much would you pay to stay in one for a month, just mooring and maybe water and no electric??
  20. Radio Five sport then Match of the Day, SKY Dish,XBox360???? more crap on the roof and so much for enjoying the scenic countryside, rural pursuits and life away from it all on the water, lol
  21. Hi Teadaemon, I've just been informed the boat is 2005 so yes, but I know all the ins and outs for RCD'S and Declorations, the question is about the company and if anyone knows about them or are they trading under another company?? The company was based in Chorley, Lancashire. thanks
  22. A friend of mine is looking to buy a Narrowboat, the one he is looking at is a 45' Liverpool shell fitted out by Classic Narrowboats Ltd in 1996, the owner does not have a Decloration of Conformity from the builder however he has the order documentation and the final payment/receipt sales documentation prooving ownership. It apears the company is no longer trading or may be under a different name, my question is, has anyone had any dealing with the company or any member have one of their boats?? any information would be grateful. thanks
  23. The only place you can lift a boat out in Sheffield is at Jonathan Wilson's but as he does not have a crane on site and does not do it regular you would have to contact his office to see if they could sort something out as it's a busy place.
  24. Dean, your boat is berthed at Dewsbury, Why don't you ask some of thw experienced boaters there some of your questions/concerns?? they have alot of experience between them on that waterway, or is because they have not seen you and your a internet giek and that's why you ask so many questipons on this forum????
  25. Dean, your boat hasn't been anywhere, simpley refill your stern gland greaser and re-tighten, or reverse your boat 10m onto the slipway and fix/re-pack your gland packing, you do need to start thinking for yourself and stop askining these questions as all you'll will become is a pain
