  1. OK 👌 No idea on the back boiler output unfortunately. The stove currently definitely does keep the boat very toasty very easily. It's a 42ft springer narrowboat. You actually met us in Reading, maybe 5yrs back and helped us connect up our new solar system and batteries, we were new to boating then. You probably won't remember. You were extremely helpful then, and I'm very happy to see that hasn't changed. I've since had to start a new canalworld profile as I couldnt login to our old one. Cheers Tony 🍻
  2. Tbh I havent considered it. I'm more concerned currently about staying warm with the temperatures lowering and being able to successfully connect up with the new stove safely. But I will look into it definitely. Cheers
  3. Wow. Good find. We've never known in all these years. Thanks, looks exactly the same. So this affects things a lot maybe? This barrel stove has an output of 11.8kw The boatman is only 4kw Does this mean I'm only going to get a 3rd of the heat output I had from this stove currently? And will this effect the power it has to circulate the water around the system? Tia
  4. I could also remove the drawer from underneath the stove. This gains me another 14cm of fall towards the stove. Is that necessary? We do like having a coal drawer there, so be sad to lose it if it wasn't required. Cheers
  5. OK. Fantastic. I think the best I would get in the space is a level bottom pipe and a steeper top pipe. Like attached picture. A double radiator does sound like a nice additional upgrade whichever way you look at it. So I might just do that too while I'm at it. Thanks all for your advice 👌 Reassuring as always Cheers 🍻
  6. The in and out at the back of the stove are 28mm. 28mm, 28mm elbows then the 28mm pipe all the way to the radiator where the reducers are.
  7. Thanks for some quick responses. The radiator is single skin. We picked the boatman stove due to its similarities in size to ours currently. The ins and outs should end up positioned very close to what they are now. We have no idea on the output of the current stove, nor do we know of a manufacturer of it. It's a barrel stove style with similar height and depth of the boatman. I'll attach a photo for reference. Tony, there is room to potentially move the radiator up to create a fall back to the stove with the lowest pipe, but then the highest pipe will have a much steeper rise. Would this matter? Thanks again
  8. We are very soon to be replacing the wood burning stove onboard our boat. The current stove and back boiler pipework is most likely original to the boat, so over 30yrs old. We are updating the stove to the standard "boatman" stove. My main question is, will my current back boiler pipework be adequate? I will disconnect it all, and rejoin the entire system, as there are a few small leaks now. But I'd like to know if the set up is correct, or if any alternative options are out there? I've attached a diagram of my set up currently. TIA Andrew
