  1. Thanks for all the responses! Have contacted Sawley Marina to investigate further. Erewash is some way away so can’t go there to check.
  2. I have a 48’ trad stern built by Davison Brothers (as per CanalPlan), but alas that’s about as much as I know about its history. Is there any way I can find out which year it was built? When did the Brothers stop building boats? Found a thread on here about them but from 2006. Many thanks
  3. Very good point. I’m ok with the defects actually, completes the industrial look called Sherwin-Williams and they said all of their products have anti-corrosive colour pigments so they don’t have anything that’s clear. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of vehicle clear coats, there seems to be a range of choices and apparently popular for motorbikes. Will call up some body shops (one I spoke to said it’s impossible…)
  4. I’m stripping my narrowboat back to steel and would really like to keep this finish rather than cover with paint. I’ve explored various options and wanted to see if anyone else had experience doing this. Was initially looking for a clear epoxy but couldn’t find one. Some people advised against it though as it would yellow over time. Came across Owatrol Marine Oil which seemed right for the job but couldn’t find much about people using it on its own. Someone else had tried it and told me it would yellow as well. Now looking at Jenolite Rust Shield (aerosol) / Metal Lacquer (liquid, discontinued by manufacturer but found elsewhere). Called the manufacturer and they said one coat is sufficient and that it would adhere well to the steel but not to itself… I was initially preparing to roller on a few coats. Not sure how often I would need to reapply if only one coat? Would anyone be kindly able to advise on this or share any experiences? Many thanks in advance :)
