Hiya
Was just having a quick look through past posts for a bit of advice and inspiration when I came across this which was posted back in May:
"Well I've been making enquiries and have found a firm in Yorkshire who will make to measure a complete 4' x 2' window with a sliding opener, with toughened glass for £75 inc vat. The last time I had one broken, it cost more than that just for the glass! I've been to see the works, a compact and bejou unit, but busy, and the sections also seem to be a lot stiffer than the originals on the boat, though they look much the same from outside. I think it's 'cos they have two channels, one for the sliding bit to slide in. Seems a much better bet than the small hopper topped type of window. Unless anyone can tell me my I shouldn't I think I'm about to order some new windows.
here's their web site http://www.horseboxwindowcentre.com/index.html"
Following this advice we took the plunge and bought 8 new windows from these guys in Leeds, they arrived and I think they're brilliant, really nice finish. However.... got them to the boat, placed them in the existing cavity and immediately saw a bit of a problem! The previous windows we had were rectangular with sharp right-angled corners, the new windows have a radius- therefore where the curved corner sits there's a small gap of empty space where metal should be!
Looking back, we definately should have thought of this before purchasing, however now its done it can't be helped and I wandered if anyone had any suggestions as to a possible solution to prevent my boyfriend and I sinking our boat with rainwater!
Appreciate the help!
