    PLEASE

My other half and I are very new to narrowboating (although we have had a 23` cruiser for 3 years ) We soon hope to take delivery of a new "East West 44`" narrowboat. Is there anyone out there who has any knowledge or experience of this boat please.

Can anyone help me with a question I keep thinking about please.
Being very new to boating. is it o.k. to leave the lock gates open when leaving a lock ? We have just travelled from Whilton to Nottingham and some were closed as we approched and some were open PLEASE. could someone tell what is the correct procedure ? I must admit I close them after passing through so if this is wrong I am sorry for pi***ng anyone off who might have been following me.

Being VERY new to narrowboating (had a 23` GRP cruiser for 3 years decided to "do it" proper now) I have had an idea, and your experience/thoughts will go a long way with my dilemma.
I want to watch telly in the after a long day's sailing (is it sailing or boating ?) and I thought that if I used a satellite dish the type they use on motor homes that fold down when not in use with a satellite receiver "box" I would be able to receive freeview. The theory behind this is the majority of canals are surrounded banks and a dish will point skywards thus less obstructions (trees accepted) instead of an aerial that relies on "line of site".
    What do you think please?

    Hi There

We hope to travel from Sawley to Macclesfield this weekend. We tried this run a few weeks ago but high winds and loads of rain stopped us at Fradley. I have "sussed" the route on canal planner and "checked" for any stoppages on waterscape and neither show any problems but, I place more trust in you guys. Can anyone out there give me any "sensible" advice please on mooring sites, vandal areas, or any other areas we should be weary off. I must add that we are still classed as "newbies" as we have only had the boat for a year and not traveled too much.
