If you turn the red knob to flush some water through it may wash out whatever is holding it open.  On the other hand it may have failed and just needs replacing.

Thanks for that chewbacka I did what you said, opened the valve for a minute and lightly tapped the valve it seems to have sorted it.

Thanks for this forum and its members.

  2. Good evening all

Strange rumours on the Bridgewater, Limiting the use of your boat, only allowed to stay aboard 3 nights a week.

Rumours of a nazi warden being aggressive towards boaters' and boating clubs, issuing threats to ban boaters from the canal, be interested to hear from any boaters who have any experience of this.

  3. Good afternoon

could one of the more technical minded members give a step by step guide to an oil change on my jp2, please bear in mind I'm not the most technically gifted member of the forum.

    thanks in anticipation

  4. Good evening

  5. Good afternoon

I'm not sure if my Kestrel Alternator Controller is working, when I start the engine,in a matter of seconds a red light comes on, as i reduce revs,a short while afterwards the green light comes on, the switch is in the up position, all the time the engine is running at a reasonable rate both lights remain on, when i drop the revs for mooring up the green light goes off. If i flick the switch down both lights go out at any revs.

The controller is connected to one alternator which is connected to two 100aph leisure batteries. The engine is s JP2 which is a hand start version

I think the question I'm asking is how do i know when the batteries are fully charged, I don't have an ammeter fitted.

    Thanks very much. Lpp2

  6. I'm asking this on behalf of a friend of mine, who's health is not what it was,

is it possible to have a electric starter fitted. He can manage the boat reasonably well but using the starting handle is a problem for him.

    Thanks lpp2
