Of course Brenda Adams was also out of order in sending out a mail like this, with all those addresses showing - one should always used "Blind CC" for that kind of thing, and CRT should get a kicking that their staff repeatedly seem to think it is acceptable.It would be good to urgently edit your post to remove all those email addresses.

As we approach the ‘go live’ date of 4 June for our new Regional structure, I am pleased to share updates on the outstanding appointments below.
A message from Julie Sharman, Chief Operating Officer: Regional Director appointments
I am delighted to announce the appointment of our new Regional Directors. As you know, this has been a rigorous process involving both internal and external candidates, and I’m pleased to be able to confirm the appointees below:
- Regional Director, London & South East – Ros Daniels
- Regional Director, Wales & South West – Richard Thomas
- Regional Director, West Midlands – Adnan Saif
- Regional Director, East Midlands – Phil Mulligan
- Regional Director, Yorkshire & North East – Sean McGinley
In addition, I am pleased to add that the Regional Director, North West post will be filled on an interim basis by Daniel Greenhalgh (for up to 12 months). The Biogs attachment includes further information about our four new starters.
I have also appointed David Baldacchino as Head of Operations Support, Jon Horsfall as Head of Customer Service Support alongside Peter Walker as Head of Technical Support, as previously announced. An updated Operations team chart including these appointments is alsoattached.
We have established two new permanent posts in areas requiring very specific additional focus:
· Tav Kazmi is appointed as Deputy Director, London & South East, recognising the scale and impact of London & South East as a region, with many complex challenges specific to our capital city and its surrounding area, and with huge potential opportunities for us to grasp
· Ian Lane is appointed as Head of Operational Projects in the West Midlands in recognition of the extensive and unique opportunities in the region over the next few years, notably Coventry City of Culture 2021, the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022, and in the near term the ongoing development of the Roundhouse project.
When the new regions go live on 4 June, Sean and Daniel will take up their new positions in Yorkshire & North East and the North West respectively. As our external appointees will be joining us during July and August, the following interim arrangements will apply from 4 June until the respective RD joins us:
- Acting Regional Director, London & South East – Tav Kazmi
- Acting Regional Director, West Midlands – Ian Lane
- Acting Regional Director, Wales & South West – Mark Evans
- Acting Regional Director, East Midlands – Jenny Whitehall
I’d particularly like to thank Mark and Jenny for stepping into these interim roles.
I can also confirm that Waterway Managers Nick Worthington and Jon Guest will be leaving the Trust on 31 May and 30 June respectively, with Head of Health & Safety, Tony Stammers, and Nigel Crowe, National Heritage Manager, also leaving the Trust on 30 June. I’d like to thank them all for their many years of service.
Denise Yelland will serve as Acting Boat Licensing Customer Support Manager until the end of September, with arrangements beyond this date to be shared at that time.

Message from Simon Bamford, Asset Improvement Director: Changes in Asset Improvement
As a result of Daniel’s secondment to the Regional Director post, interim arrangements will be in place in Asset Improvement for up to 12 months as follows:
- John Ward will take on the role of interim Head of Project Delivery
- Richard Wakelen will take the lead role on Engineering Services in addition to his current role, to become Head of Asset Strategy & Engineering Services
In addition, I am pleased to report that Jason Leach has been appointed as Programme Director for the Unlocking the Severn project, reporting to me.
Mark Stephens and Richard Longton will be leaving the Trust on 30 June and I’d like to thank them for their many years of service.

Message from Heather Clarke, Strategy, Impact & Engagement Director: Strategy, Engagement and Impact
I am pleased to announce that Stephen Higham has been appointed as Service & Outcomes Development Manager from 4 June.
Andrew Stumpf, Head of Wales, is retiring on 20 July after 41 years of service, with his attendance at the Board reception in Cardiff on 23 May, his last public event. I’d like to thank Andrew for his very many years of service. With the creation of the Regional Director posts, the position of Head of Wales is no longer required, with a new (non-senior management) position of Policy & Public Affairs Manager (Wales) created; an external appointment to this will be announced shortly.

The appointment of the West Midlands regional manager is of candid interest. In the PR resume he has the least said about him yet controls a huge area. That area contains a large mileage of underused urban canals which still hardly see boats. Its an area where housing is at a premium for the lower end of the scale. CRT ,I think most of us believe is cash short and desperate for funds. Add in a person with this man's experience, in areas of urban degradation and the cauldron has a interesting mix. Where could you earn a lot of money quickly in a short time, one answer would be "Housing" in whatever form it took. ai agree the waterway knowledge shared by this six is minimal, but what are they bringing to the table? I fear for the BCN becoming a housing estate network.

Well said "Tanglewood". Waste on waste on waste.
British Waterways was a pet to hate but at least it contained people who knew what the job was about, even if they dragged their feet and were slow they had "the knowledge".
What is there of that today? Its doubtful if anybody could draw a map of what they look after! (That's assuming they could draw!).

The BW logo was simply British Waterways Board and a wobbly blue wave (no 'life-ring') as per my post #74
Those logos are what was applied to the first BW hire boats built at Bradley yard. We have them on file due to having built models for the national boat show stand BW had at Earls Court.

I cannot understand the need to change the logo, it wont change the attitudes of CRT or any of their policies, and just about when the general public are recognising the organisation via signage, they will be presented with an abstract graffito sign meaning nothing in its visual output! A bunch of idiots imho, and I add to that its about time Parry went because he doesn't seem able to control this type of massive waste of money.
