Dave and Chris moor at Henhull on the Shropshire Union and we became friends when we also moored at this site. Even though we have
moved to Anderton ,we have kept in touch and my wife and I are proud to have known Dave.
Some of you may not know that Dave & Chris were editors of the Shropshire Union Canal Society magazine "Cuttings" for many years
and transformed the mag. until Dave was forced by ill health to hand over to Rod & Carol Hamilton-King; who have carried on in an excellent
similar style.
DOR will be sadly missed.

recording the French one now on ch 93
-
Missed it,was it worth watching?!
-
Various quotes from people who moor nearby about the state of the boat and rowdy behaviour. Not licensed for 4 years etc: Large generator running
at all hours and rubbish on towpath.

Narrowboat world gives a different slant on all this!!

Mine in our wood burner at home are ceramic, all others seem to crack after a very short time. They were expensive though, but it is an 8KW
fire!!
-
I prefer the robbie Cummings series; at least he tried to tell it how it is!
-
Terry from Harworth heating has given the boater details of a mobile engineer who will be able to sort the problem.
Thanks for all the helpful information!

He contacted OFTEC but they were not helpful. !!
-
Yes he has but Terry Hibbert was not available and nobody else could help.
-
Ok thanks, will advise him to do that.

Hello fellow boaters. A friend of mine is having difficulty with his Bubble diesel stove and cannot find a specialist in the North West to come and service it.
Have any forum members got any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I took great delight in mooring on the forbidden bit at Nantwich recently; the trees have now grown such that one can bairly see the houses!
Unfortunately nobody from CRT challenged me!

I am sorry to say that I have not heard much of boating interest in this post. Surely we can have a decent conversation without descending into
the childish sniping which occurs daily in the House of Commons!!
Finally, Isobel started this but at no time has she detailed the circumstances of the altercation! I for one would like to know where she was, what kind
of mooring was it and was she within her rights to be there!?
On a lighter note I also met and chatted to the chap on Lord Byron's maggot a few weeks ago on the Middlewich branch of the Shroppie. Nowt wrong
with his boat or his attitude and hope he felt the same about me!
-
I also use an old 56lb weight. I have been told by people with more experience that once deployed, an anchor, especially in fast flowing water, is
almost impossible to recover!
-
I just wonder how anyone is going to police all this nonsense! The same goes for the ban on red diesel!

Thanks Dave, will set the recorder!

Anderton pump out was working as of Monday 29th July but some kind soul has smashed the locks off both water points!
I despair!

Elsan disposal at Thorn Marine in Stockton Heath.

We are due to go into Liverpool 5th July, and as of yesterday the info. I have been given is that the new control hut is on order and
due to be delivered next week from Scotland. The electrics and hydraulics then have to be installed. CRT will not give a firm date but
judging by other major contracts completed during the last twelve months ; I would say September-October would be realistic for
completion.

I understand that the main reason for the delay is that they cannot easily bring heavy plant in due to a gas main
being too close to the surface of the track and the contractor (Land & Water, not Kier) is afraid of damage to same.
Do not take this as gospel, just what I have been told by people with more local knowledge than me !
I personally am very pleased that they have stopped the work, our boat club has an event at Wrenbury at Easter and after
the events of 2018 we were very concerned that the date of 29.3.2019 would not be met.

We were booked to use Marsh lock 20 August to travel to Whitchurch for their boat rally. Now
that Daniel Adamson has wrecked the lock gates CRT have suggested that our 6 boats use Paloma lock
to access the Ship canal and get to Ellesmere Port that way. However, the cost of more than £500 per
boat for the return trip rule that route out on economic grounds alone! Looks as if we are doomed to
remain on the Trent & Mersey for the duration.

Thanks for the update! Most boaters would appreciate sight of the minutes and it would
reduce the amount of negative comments we all make

Paul was one of the founder members of the volunteer force on the Shroppie and worked hard latterly for the Small Tasks team.
Great bloke and will be badly missed. We in the North West have now lost in the last year two exceptional canal people in Paul
himself and Mike Carter of the IWA.
Webasto woes
in General Boating
Posted
Because I am a Webasto user I read through all the comments and agree that you have had some helpful suggestions. However,I think
you will save a great deal of time (not money!) by asking a Webasto expert to test your unit and system. It does not appear to be a standard
set-up which is essential for these heaters to work consistently well. If you are located anywhere near the North West I can recommend an
engineer who has sorted my system, but there are very few of these people about.
