  3. After having done the Llangollen canal last year I have now got the bug and am planning to do the four counties canal. I had some excellent advise on theis forum last year,Ii am hoping I will get the same again. Can anybody advise which way is the best to go i.e. anti or clockwise or any other way ! Also we have a dog, so we require pet friendly pubs on the route. I have checked the lists available but they seem to be very few and far between... anybody know anything different. Thanks in advance
  4. First thanks all for your replies it was a great help. We had threE good days and two bad days weather wise, but we are in Britain after all !!! The best pub that I visited was the White Hart in Ellesmere, great little place down to earth no juke box and no telly, we even had a good chat with the friendly locals, the beer there was excellen,t real ales and at a very reasonasble price. The Willeymoor lock & the Bridge inn was also excellent ,good beer good food and most impotantley for us was that they were dog friendly !! Ahh well wait for next year now Cheers to you all

  8. Hi Well my dream has been realsied I am able to take my family on a canal boat holiday.I have always fancied this, so this is completley new to me. Can you help me ? I ahve hired a 8 berth boat on the Llangollen canal, starting from Whitchurch then aming towards Ellemere etc. What is the best advise that I can have with regards to taking food on the boat, that is are there any provisions readilly available on the route ( shops etc ) ... my family are adults so we can stop in the evenings in any pubs to have evening meals, but what about during the day ?. The simplest of advise would be most welcome does not matter how trivual. Many thanks
