  1. Maybe they were homeless and desperate and needed a bit of comfort for a few nights, as you have said they just left you with used sheets and dirty pots and pans, it is the season of goodwill to all mankind - I would bid them a Happy Christmas and a thank you for the whisky they left you. Happy New to one and all.
  2. Hi, I have sold two boats in the last 18 months, first one my mooring was on towpath so put advert in boat window - it sold within a week, 2nd boat I advertised it on apolloduck took about a month to sell. Good luck Dolly
  3. Get a life you silly Yank, it was said in jest, at least it made the post more interesting, got you all talking And made Kay a wanted women
  4. Hey Love, You asking about boat rescue services or are you offering your own services with a picture like that!!! Pull your skirt down it's putting me off my food.
  5. I saved my money over many years, bought a boat did it up sold it and bought a better boat
  6. Myself and my partner lived on a narrowboat for nearly 2yrs, it really was so much cheaper than living in a house, we collected free wood, the freedom a boat gives you is fantastic, you only get one life, life is too short to put up with crap neighbours, all the best give it a go. Dollybassett
  7. In all fairness to that liverpool boat company, i had a sailaway before this new boat which was excellent no problems with it at all, just seems this one everything is bad about it, i think mainly caused by bad workmanship. I will never buy from them again, the way i have been treated over this boat is disgraceful, you live and learn, i'm sure it will be sorted out eventually. Thank you to Liz for the draft letter i will certainly use it. Dollybassett
  8. Thank you all so much for your replies, i have spoken to the boat company today and asked for a full refund, which has been refused, they have gven me a date of first weekend in feb just to inspect boat, not sure they will turn up though they promised to pick up the boat at the weekend never turned up and did't bother to phone. I am going to write letters and visit CAB for advice not certainly not give up they have £26,500 of my hard earned and saved money. Thanks for all the suggestions and help Dollybassett
  9. Thank you for the replies so far i will keep the forum posted on my battles to get my narrowboat sorted Thanks
  10. Paid in full when i picked boat up, still under warranty, boat is brand new just 2 months old
  11. Some advice needed please, bought a sailaway lined from a very well known liverpool company, took delivery only a few months ago. From the start boat was full of problems from diesel tank leaking into engine bay, had to be fixed 3times, water tank not treated, i now have a water feature in my boat i didn't pay for(7 of the 9 windows are leaking), wood has bulged out in many places, insulation is missing so wood is wet on ceiling, and where bulkheads have been fitted there is no insulation. There are many more ploblems these are just a selection. I bought this boat to live on but am unable to do so because it is so wet, am paying £170 per month mooring and licence fees for a boat i cannot use. Comapany in question keep trying to fob me off - what should i do i'm distraught put my life savings into to this boat and no iam just left in limbo. Any help or advice much needed Thanks in advance.
  12. From what i know about New Boat Company, Liverpool Boats make their boats for them (not Aqualine range), it would be far cheaper to go to Liverpool Boats direct as New Boat Co charge a lot more for the same boat. I have just ordered by second narrowboat from Liverpool Boats and have found their boats excellent value and really well made. Hope this helps
  13. Is it a good time to buy a narrowboat, with issues about red diesel, britishwaterways auctioning mooorings ect...or is it a good time to get out of boating because the water is so uncertain. Cheers
  14. Some advice needed please, I have just recently sold my narrowboat, and I am just about to have a widebeam built for residential purposes, if I was to go the whole hog and get 12ft wide would i have problems cruising the canal system, any advise much appreciated. Thanks
