  1. At the moment its a Lister HRW3 with Blackstone box, It apears to be a single shaft running under the boatmans cabin. I havnt removed the engine. This will be a forth coming project.
  2. O.K thanks. The shaft is around 7 feet long as it goes under the boatmans cabin. So 2 universal joints may be the answer.
  3. The fly wheel is so large it wont go any lower, so the 2 shafts wont line up. Any ideas if there is a way round it ?
  4. Could anyone advise, If the only way to fit an engine left the new output shaft from the gearbox 3 cm higher than the existing prop shaft , would a flexible coupling like an Aquadrive be the best way to get the 2 to align ?
  5. Thanks to you all for the info. Yoda, no great rush , i will also look on the net and if i find anything i will pass it on .Cheers.
  6. Thanks Yoda. Do you have any contacts or information on this type of prop ?
  7. Thanks for the replys. Graham, as you know our boat is from the same builder as yours , so your reply has got me thinking. Do you know what the maximum size prop that will fit ? I spoke to crowthers today , and they were strugling to quote for this rpm. They were coming up with 46" figures for the prop and 3" shaft. Which definatly wont work with the space available. Cheers.
  8. Can anyone tell me if an engine has a max rpm of 375 and 59 hp , is it possible to increase say 300 rpm upto a usable prop rpm ? Either hydraulic or mechanical but it must be capable of going into reverse. No its not a typo 300 rpm. Cheers.

  14. Just about to fit a new impelor on my Jabsco mechanical, engine coolant pump, instructions state you need a special tool to remove impelor. Does anyone know if it can be done without the special tool ? Cheers.

    Fire

Most Fire Services around the country offer free home fire saftey checks. This also includes boats if you live on board. They fit free smoke detectors and give advice on escape routes and general fire saftey issues. In the West Midlands if they spot that you have a chip pan ,they have a facility to give a free deep fat fryer if you will allow the disposal of your chip pan. This may be country wide.Give your local brigade a ring to see whats available.

  21. Hello, Having just read the servey report on a boat i am hoping to buy, it shows that in 5 years the bottom plate has lost 0.4 mm in some areas , which isnt too bad . But it mentions areas of pitting, Do you think this is a cause for concern or is it normal ? Any other tips on specific areas to look at when checking condition prior to purchase would be most welcome. Thanks for your help.
