Hi everyone! So I have bought a fairly unusual narrowboat (well, I've put the deposit down, and just need to convince myself of this question). She has an enclosed "wheelhouse" at the back which is a little higher than the main roof of the boat.
I measured very roughly, and it's between 6'4" and 6'5" above the water at the highest point, but this is only about 3" wide and then it drops down to 6'.
To get to my mooring up the Rochdale Canal, the official limiting headroom is 6'4". But where is this measured? Right at the centre? Or is there a bit of an allowance which means I should be fine if I make sure my fuel and water tanks are full and heavy? I'm really concerned that I'm about to buy a boat which won't get to where I need it to go, which would be...embarassing.
Would really appreciate any reassurance or otherwise confirmation that this isn't going to work from those in the know. I'm struggling to find anywhere online which says where the pinch points actually are and their dimensions. Thank you!
