  1. Ever claiming something is complete is always a request for people to find errors, and I expect I have made a few if not many many, but I feel like I have completed stage 1 of my Canal/River Mooring map, I still have a lot more to find and add, but I have done my best to clean the current data. https://floydtilla.co.uk/uk-canal-and-river-marinas/ Thanks for all the help David
  2. So I am learning, but I had to start somewhere D
  3. Just got to 820 locations and now working on removing the weird and wonderful places that seem to be in the CRT data, there are a lot of EoG moorings (End of Garden, so I am told) and clearly private or commercial (Boat yards that do not offer mooring etc) that are being removed. https://floydtilla.co.uk/uk-canal-and-river-marinas/ D
  4. Yes, I hope to cover everything I can find 🙂 D
  5. It is a good point, I have tried to cover mooring and marina that are not just temporary moorings, I have included links where possible. My original plan was as a guide to longer term moorings, as that was what I was looking for when I started. D
  6. We are upto about 800 places mapped and about ⅓ with positions and information checked. I have removed a lot of EOG moorings (Thanks Rob-M) for that description. https://floydtilla.co.uk/uk-canal-and-river-marinas/ D
  7. Well we are now just over 700 marinas and moorings added to the map and lots more to add and loads to update https://floydtilla.co.uk/uk-canal-and-river-marinas/ D
  8. Obvious now you say it 🙂 Still lots to learn D
  9. Yes, still a lot to add, but starting with the CRT data got me over 500 sites, the rest will be added as I get the formatting correct for the imports. Its a fun project, I am learning more about the available waterways. D
  10. Speed had really become an issue with the way things worked on the original google maps plugin, I have tested it a lot over the past few days, so today just to see if I was going mad, I have swapped to another mapping system called MapMarkers. So fare so good, a few problems with imports of my CSV files, but now a test is up and running, again a work in progress. https://floydtilla.co.uk/uk-canal-and-river-marinas/ D P.S. Thanks for all the help guys, could not have done this without your feedback and comments..
  11. It is very impressive so far D It will improve as I clean the data, I will put in some filters so you can select which waterways you look at, also I think I can also limit the amount of data depending on the area you look at, at the moment it is loading it all even if you just look at a small area. It is definitely a work in progress. Also once I stop playing with the data the cache should start to work a little better 🙂 D
  12. I have now started working on the CRT data, I have converted XY coordinates to Lat, Long (You have to love excel) and I have imported this info the map. I am now working my way into each record and getting any further details I can find as well has checking that the map location is correct, and adding which waterway they are on.. This will take a while, but I am learning a lot. D
  13. That is an amazing data set, I will play with that and see what I can extract/manipulate 🙂 D
  14. I am finding more accurate ways to pinpoint the marinas, started with address and postcode, bit of work to do D I am not really tying to reinvent the wheel, well maybe I just like the coding and experimentation. I did find others where so out of date or missed data, maybe be a bit optimistic to even try, but someone should always try to improve things. D
  15. Thank you all so much, such a wealth of info. D
  16. I'm not asking for review, just some local knowledge. 🙂 Thanks D Thanks guys lots of work to do 🙂 Will keep working on it D
  17. I will start looking, some of these are very hard to find 🙂 Thanks D
  18. Fab, thanks.. I will investigate and edit my typo 🙂 D
