  1. Great thanks for all your help once again everyone.
  2. Mean’s when I’m pissed I know where to step. opps. Visibility.
  3. I’ve currently painted 2 coats of blacking on the hull and a third is going on after 24 hours. I want to paint over a section with red oxide for boat viability. Is it ok to use red oxide over blacking paint?
  4. I used a grinder and wire brush attachment. Knackering work. I’ll give those primers a go. I think most of the damaged blacking on my boat is caused by me bashing into things but is starting to look orange in places.
  5. I did it myself 2 1/2 years ago. 2 coats. That was outside in the summer. 4 days and back in. That time I took all the old blacking off and then fresh coats. Is it best to give it a quick sand and slap new coats over the old coats? Or complete strip and new coats?
  6. I’m usually around Watford and Luton. Going into a tunnel for two weeks is going to be a bit pricey. I’ll probably just do it outside in the summer.
  7. I’ve got two options. Black under tunnel in February or black uncovered in May at different site. I’m a bit worried that it might be too cold in February to black. But it might also rain in May 😏. Any thoughts?
  8. I’m just going to connect them up to the generator and maybe the inverter later on to top them up.
  9. Oooh really. What voltage am I supposed to charge them up to?
  10. I’ve got three leisure batteries which I charge for 45 minutes to and 1hr each day using a 40 amp charger and generator. My power consumption is very low. X10 12 volt led lights, inverter for tv 2 hours per day, charging phone and internet dongle. I’ve not got a fridge. I charge my batteries up until 14.7 volts. I’ve noticed that my boat has gradually getting been getting darker in the evenings. All the connections seem good. Is it time to replace the batteries? I bought a 12 volt light that has an internal battery for a bit of extra light but it’s a horrid bright white light which doesn’t seem natural. Any recommendations for rechargeable lights that are natural?
  11. New regulator, flex pipe and clips fitted. There was another leak at the compression joint and I had to use PTFE tape around the copper olive to get a tight seal. Checked with washing up liquid and water and now no leaks. Will check every day now and make sure to isolate the bottle at night and when I leave the boat.
  12. Yes the Fulham hoses are already there. Can’t I use the clips provided with the hose I ordered? Or do I have to use those clamps?
  13. I’m just going to forgive and forget. Praise Jesus! New regulator, hose and clips ordered. Washing up liquid and water at the ready. I don’t want the negativity in my brain. Thank god for temporary camping gas.
  14. He’s gas registered and pretty established as a good and trustworthy gas fitter. He’s also a BSS examiner. He probably used old parts as you say. I’m not naming and and shaming. Pretty sound and genuine guy. Probably just trying to make a bit of extra bob.
  15. Yeah I didn’t notice that before! When I was checking for leaks I found that both jubilee clip screws were just spinning when I tried to tighten them. I bought some temporary cheap ones to replace as I couldn’t make it to Wickes. Why is it that boats just attract con artists or bodgers? I keep learning with boats that the best thing to do is read the regulations and learn how to do it yourself. I wouldn’t report him as might effect insurance. I’ve got a certificate etc. I’ll just replace the regulator, hose and clips myself.
  16. Thanks. I’m just looking online for new regulator, hose and clips. Any suggestions of what regulator to get? BS EN 16129? EN16864? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333858273765?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180816085401%26meid%3D68f7289350c84b8cb1198ba513815f00%26pid%3D100970%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D333858273765%26itm%3D333858273765%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100970.m5481&_trkparms=pageci%3Ada4cd91f-0f5c-11ec-a313-1efe3c6893b0|parentrq%3Abd19fa6717b0a9b186ae2428fff72e22|iid%3A1 https://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV4&item=133785758577&category=25621&pm=1&ds=0&t=1630965294672&cspheader=1
  17. Leak is coming from here. I’ve opened it up and seems to be a red kind of sealant that has faded away.
  18. It’s a BP1803 regulator. I’ve just checked it online and its come up with an immediate item recall. Products up September 2015 have been recalled but I think mine is December 2015.
  19. Thanks. I’ll have a look. This new piping and regulator was installed about 18 months ago. Date on hose is 2009 but was installed last year by gas engineer along with regulator.
  20. Thanks mate. It’s very tight. The leak is coming from the other side of the screw.
  21. Just done a check on the gas locker as i would often have a sweet smell on my fingers after changing the gas bottle. Found a little leak using water and washing up liquid spray. Any suggestions to fix?
  22. I’m mainly just in London for the summer ( July and August) as a tourist. London is not actually that full ( Apart from around Maida Hill). Most places in Central London are just concreted towpaths. It’s actually pretty despicable. God knows what it’s going to look like with the ‘Safety Zones’. Gentrification….
  23. I think it might be a case of creating my own. I’m thinking a long bar about 6 foot long with concrete buckets either side. X2 back and front.
  24. Yeah I don’t mind breasting up but there does seem to be 5 mile stretch in London where your not allowed to moor.
