  1. It's the DVD equivalent (hahahaha) of the Boaters handbook that goes with the helmsmans course, I bought it from the IWA web site, anyone want it? We can post it round and all have a good laugh (at me for spending the money) who wants it first, PM me! REgards, Ally p.
  2. Yes, if all goes well with our purchase, our friends are moored there. The owners are putting leccy and water in at the moment but I'm not sure how it's all going or what it will be like when it's finished. It was just a field and a bit of a towpath when I booked it! Regards, Ally p.
  3. Not got many neighbours, live nearly in the middle of nowhere

  5. I would have loved to buy an original, I wanted to buy Marquis No237 that was for sale at Braunston, but my house money didn't come through from my divorce in time so now i'm settling for a replica (v. nice one tho') it has rivets!!! but they are real ones not washers, as if that makes a difference any pics of your lovely boat? Regards, Ally p.
  6. Now, my cats would dive in and swim for it, when they do venture out the first thing they do on return is use the tray!!! you would think that a nice fresh patch of garden would be preferable...but obviously not! Regards, Ally p.
  7. Sorry, I hope I didn't offend, I was trying in an albeit hamfisted way to explain my own ignorance regards, ally p.

  9. I've never realy been a fan of dutch barges...so I thought! then I saw one at Sawley marina that was a thing of true beauty, blue hull and cream cabin sides exactly like the one on Gary's "how to build a barge" pages, obviously I didn't know what a dutch barge was, what I'd seen in the past were boxy cruiser style wide beams, like very large floating biscuit tins. The one I saw at Sawley was elegant and gorgeous. If I was having a boat built I would def go to Ledgard bridge for a serious conversation. Not sure about the yellow tho' supposed to be the colour favoured by schizophrenics!!!! I would have Ferrari red. TaTa Ally p.
  10. I'm sorry, I must interject.....you are quite clearly mixing us up with Sunderland...very remiss of you old chap! Regards, Ally P. Now in deepest darkest Northumberland but a native of Newcastle upon tyne.
  11. Just watched my copy of the above mentioned DVD that arrived in the post this morning, and was very dissapointed, I expected a bit more instruction, seemed to gloss over most things and wasted time on the irrelevant. Waste of money methinks! Has anyone seen it? Regards, Ally p.
  12. I second that Regards, Ally P.

  15. Thanks, I had it in my head that we would be the other side of Silsden boats, doh! till I looked at google earth! Sat pic must have been taken ages ago tho' as there are no moorings/ building work at Woodside farm in evidence. I'm reassured now, thought I might have made a mistake there in buying a 60 footer. thanks to all, Ally P.
  16. Guffaw! He's big enough to pull a boat, big coloured cob, one grey eye & one brown one, makes him look a bit unhinged, proper gypsy job the kind you see clattering up and down at horse fairs, he's getting on a bit but still willing. Regards, Ally p.

  18. I would love to take my cats with me when I go cruising, they certainly miss us when we go away, they absolutely hate the cattery, refuse to eat and sulk, if our neighbour comes in to feed them they become aloof and haughty and make such a fuss of us when we come back that I feel guilty for leaving them. One I've had from a wretched premature kitten whose mother was killed on the road when she was a week old (bottle fed) and one is an old farm cat, both of them have formed a very strong bond with the family, the farm cat likes to be carried around on my shoulder and she is part feral, now that they are both getting on a bit they don't go out much, although Fluffy made an exception tonight to hunt bats! Don't fancy a litter tray on a boat so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I'll maybe get a house sitter who loves cats. I'm taking the dog and the hamster tho' but leaving the horse behind!!! Regards, Ally p.

  22. What a stupid and annoying thing to do, the mind boggles. You can easily do a reverse IP look up, no one is really anonymous, even on the so called anon remailers, there is always a way. Hope the chuck he/she off their ISP and the police prosecute. cheers, Ally p.
  23. Oh b****r, I did a search first before I started that topic and nothing much came up, except a brief mention of them, I'll read the thread, thanks Moley, I'm very much enjoying the progress of your boat, can't wait for more pics. Love the bathroom tiling. Regards, Ally p.
  24. HI y'all, The topic description of my post says it all.....is it worth shelling out £150 plus quid? Good experiences and bad wanted Ta! Regards, Ally p.
  25. Maybe someone could come up with a canal version of "chitty chitty bang bang" AP
