  1. Hi all (again!), We have found (in our humble opinion) a very nice, self fitted Colecraft NB. The fitter-outer has done everything for the best of his logical and practical reasons, this is also tempered with the logic that the more that is fitted, the more to go wrong reasoning. Hence, the NB has no central heating, apart from the ole trusty squirrel stove towards the rear of the saloon. Please tell us, in this season of global warming and relatively warmer winters, does one really need central heating on a NB? Best regards to all Rob Sorry! I've should have mentioned the facts:- The NB is 56' 4" and that the Squirrel is at the back of the saloon (next to the galley / kitchen) Would an Eco Fan help with the warmth distribution? And many, many thanks to all those who are happy to contribute thei thoughts and experiences with others
  2. Hi, Does anyone out there have any experiences / recommendations on financing a second-hand narrow boat; we’re tenants and can afford the normal 20% deposit . We just wondering if a tenant can secure a marine loan. Many thanks, Robert and Heather
  3. Hi all, Well we had our first weeks holiday on a NB and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so much so, that we are considering purchasing a share in a shared ownership boat, with a 1/12 option, giving for weeks holidays per year. We have scoured this web-site for as much information on this topic as is possible. It would appear to us, that most postings would appear to be relevant to Time Share Schemes, not Shared Ownership. Any advice on this, subscribers views and experiences etc, would all be gratefully received. Regards, Robert and Heather
  4. Hi, To compound our problems, we are delighted that our daughter will be joining us for 3 days, the only snag is, she lives in London. Studying the maps (Grand Union and Railways), it would appear (to me at least) that our best option would be to meet up at Long Buckby Wharf, as it is fairly close to the railway station. Please advise us if it is at all possible for a pair of boating novices to sail from Kate’s Boats - Nelson Lane to Long Buckby Wharf, sailing on Saturday and hopefully reach Long Buckby Wharf by Tuesday evening, or, are we being too ambitious? Any advice will be gratefully received. Rob and Heather.
  5. Hi all, We are both virgin boaters and have booked a week’s holiday from Kate's Boats. Could anyone advise on a leisurely route that we could take (with plenty of time for breaks etc), bearing in mind that there will only be a crew of 2 on this maiden voyage? Thanks in anticipation, Rob and Heather
