  1. Hi all. I bought a webasto boiler for my narrow boat and got the size completely wrong! I had no idea it could be too big! Anyway 9kw is definitely too big for two radiators so I need to get rid of it before I can buy a smaller version. It’s advertised on Facebook but I’m trying to avoid eBay because the fees to sell it are quite high. So, does anybody on here know anyone who might be interested or could you suggest somewhere I could advertise that would reach out to more boaty people. Ideally would sell unit on its own so I can just swap in new one. thanks! Jake
  2. I have a webasto diesel boiler that needs fitting in Wiltshire if anyone knows anyone??
  3. Thanks for the info and concern. I did think plastic coating wasn't nessecary but the person coming to fit is a friend of a friend who usually fits boilers in houses so he must be used to using it. I am going to get the work checked by a boat qualified lpg installer when its done! could anyone explain to me '6.2.5 Piping shall be installed above bilge water as high as practicable.' I ask because my gas appliances are on the same side of the boat as the log burner so really want to avoid running gas pipes past the stove and exposing them to potentially a lot of heat, don't think I would sleep too well! so I have to cross the boat and the easiest way to do that is by routing a grove in the subfloor
  4. Hi, does anyone know if using 10mm plastic coated copper is a good idea for lpg. The guy I’ve got coming to fit the system says it is but we can’t see anything on the BSS about it so just thought I’d check.
  5. No I haven’t read the guide. Not sure where to find it! It’s 230 and 24v
  6. Can anyone tell me if the BSS allows you to run lpg pipes in cables trays? thanks!
  7. Thanks, is the 240v supply to this oven only for the ignition? looks like a good option! 45ft narrow boat and we’re hoping to start building the kitchen this weekend, oven size depending! Built in or free standing oven with a separate hob so we can get the oven under the gunnels and save a few mm on the worktop depth. Every little helps!
  8. Hello! I'm in the process of scrolling through the internet looking for an oven and I need some help. I have decided to go for a single gas oven with a separate stove, purely because it saves a bit more space. The 'caravan cookers' I've seen don't look great so I'm searching for standard domestic ovens but my problem is they all seem to have 240v grills. So does anyone know of any single ovens without the electric grill or will I have to consider a 'caravan cooker'??? Thanks!!
  9. Hi all, I have taken apart some second hand top hoppers, cleaned them up and repainted them. The rubber seals were completely deteriorated and I have managed to order most of the parts necessary to put them back together. Although I’m unsure as to what this piece is and where to find it! I have sent pictures to seals direct and they can’t pin point it either. It’s an extremely wafer thin piece of ribbed foam. It’s sticky on one side although I’m not sure if it was originally adhesive or glue was applied. It was was put between the glass and the aluminium frame... can anybody help!? thanks!
  10. I've seen Colin's windows. They look amazing but my carpentry knowledge and skills aren't anywhere near his unfortunately
  11. Thanks everyone for your replies. Think we're going to go for aluminium. There is enough to think about fitting a boat without making windows!
  12. Hello!! My girlfriend and I have just bought ourselves a narrowboat shell from Leicester and we're trying to make a decision on windows. I would love to build some wooden ones so they can be double glazed, not at an extortionate price. It would also obviously remove the condensation you get with aluminium frames. So, would anyone out there be able to tell me a good reason why building wooden windows would be a horrible idea? and if it isn't such a horrible idea could anyone help with a design?? Thanks in advance
