QuoteHi All, On my narrowboat when I test my plug sockets it says 'earth is missing' is this a problem? There is an earth wire going into all the plug sockets but can't see where its earthing on the boat. I'm running the power form my cotek 2000W pure sine wave inverter. Often when even modest appliances are plugged into the sockets like fans etc the inverter says there is an overload issue. Are you supposed to attach a earth wire from the ground connector on the inverter? What's the best way to do it? I can't see where the earth wire is earthed on connected on my narrowboat. Warmly Tom

I have a gravity fed back boiler o my boat.... problem with it tonight.... the water is suddenly dropping in the high up water container and then its bubbling and rising up and spilling over and flooding the cupbard where it sits... anyone any idea what is going on? Up and down up and down

We have completed the important milestone for this project of getting the bolts and the flanges off.... the top bolt that had welded itself in was a challenge! lol. Do people think these are reusable flanges? looks like a job to get the old exhaust pipe ends out.. were they threaded in or brazed? Is it possible to get flanges like these easily? they look a lot thicker than the ones I have seen on a quick google search. Warmly Tom

Thanks again for all the advice.... it is helping us a lot.. do people feel I will need the flexible exhaust bellows like on the link that the chap sent above (https://www.midlandchandlers.co.uk/products/bellows-with-1-1-2-bsp-male-ports-20-length-ea-009) that has the 2inch or 1.5 inch ports? The diameter of the flexible pipe in the middle part seemed to be around 1.9 inches... we could see the boat has an old style manifold on like this (https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/133467674270?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=133467674270&targetid=939009504906&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1006465&poi=&campaignid=10204071489&mkgroupid=107296306292&rlsatarget=aud-629407026465:pla-939009504906&abcId=1145987&merchantid=113627617&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5eX7BRDQARIsAMhYLP87WaQFDhmbBYRR_GhM5C6MKuh4oV6A8h4AT2MoEnOJj9tUcuSsWE8aAvMyEALw_wcB)

We are having trouble getting the old bolts of the old flanges.. we may have to axel grind them off! I'm blaming my friend Louis for rounding off one of the nuts

Thanks Alastair and Alan. I may well try and get the hose over the olive but i'd need to be able to move the nut back in order to fit a hose clip behind the olive as there isn't much room at all at the moment
-
Thanks everyone for such swift responses. The inside diameter of the hose pipe is 13mm. 'Bodge' job Jen sounds apt as the the hose pipe kept flying off hence why I was tightening it so much

Hi, Does any body know the proper name of this copper pipe end fitting as I need to get a new one (and where I could get one) as its collapsed under the pressure of the jubilee hose clip that connects my shower up in narrow boat. The end part is 1cm wide and the pipe is 1.5cm. Any help would be much appreciated as i'm without water at the moment unless I can cut off water to shower somehow. See photo..
Warmly Tom

So the oil for the gear box just goes below these two caps on gear box photo? Warmly Tom

Hi Ok I can see the two dipsticks one on right starboard side of front and one at back of the gear box. Cleaning the plate I can see it's a LM100. A lot of info you can find from reading these old plates lol.
The dipstick at the back is quite mangled and hard to see what's going on with it in terms of oil levels... The dipstick at the front reads a bit over filled. This boat is not the easiest to get into neutral so bought some SAE80 a couple of days ago and have some new 10/40 engine oil to put in so wanted to know where it all goes.. This boat is an ongoing journey for me.. thank you for all of these quick and informative responses! So the oil for the gear box just goes below these two caps on gear box photo?

Oh that is very helpful guys.... that's not what the chap who sold me this boat said but he didn't have it for that long. I will try and find the gear box
-
Oh Bizzard I thought I was supposed to use different types of oil for each?

Hi Brain,
Thank you for your help! This is the best manual I can find for what I have the Cotek SK2000 (the slightly older model). https://www.manualslib.com/manual/756317/Cotek-Sk700-112.html?page=20#manual Says on page 20
