Hi everyone - hope you're all doing well out there. I've been in love with the canals since I was a young lad - family holidays, long walks, the constant contact with them (I lived in Birmingham for my childhood) etc. and they hold a special place in my memory. I'm writing a long poem about the canals - how they have changed over time and I want to tell as many people's stories as possible to build up a kind of voice/story map of the canal system. I have enjoyed looking over these forums as part of my research and would love to hear any more stories direct from people's mouth / keyboard! Please do post below anything from your favourite boating stories, to childhood memories on and around the canals to explanations of why you love living / holidaying / walking on them etc. or drop me a line if you would like to chat directly!
