When we bought our boat, we never noticed how ugly our tiller was. The other thing is that its very tall, OK for me but almost shoulder height for my 5' 6" wife. We are getting it altered to a swan neck but are there any recommendations for height above the deck? BTW I have noticed that a lot of hire boats tillers are very low, below hip height.

Wow, Thanks for the links, it makes it much clearer. I can see there is 1.7 mm difference in the centres. It looks to me the dimension from the adaptor plate face to the coupling face is almost the same. 232 mm for the 120 and 216.4 + 16 = 232.4 mm on the 150, assuming SAE 5.

We have a Canaline 38 with a PRM 120 gearbox. If we wanted to change it out for a PRM 150 is the fit the same or will I need a new flywheel cover/endplate and modify the prop shaft etc. I read it will also need an oil cooler does this use raw canal water or is it plumbed in to the engine cooling water.

I have 5 equispaced standard 4" mushroom vents plus vents in the fore and aft double doors. The boat is 57" cruiser stern.

Ok thanks. I wondered if it was a modification from the previous owners, but it seems it is quite usual. Will be getting my BSS at the end of the month, I will leave it in and see what he says.

The mushroom vents on our new to us NB are plugged with a filter medium somewhat like you get in an extractor fan although a bit coarser, I assume to keep bugs out. Is this usual? Or should I remove it? The fore and aft door louvered vents do not have any of this stuff between them.

Thank you everyone, I now have a few options I can explore without getting myself in trouble with the law. Nearly got myself in hot water but the people here put me on the right track.

I did not realise that a phone sim would work in a 4G router I had assumed you needed a data only sim. Now that is interesting.

My Idea for a mobile phone booster is a non starter as I am informed it is illegal even though a NB is almost a Faraday cage. I guess the law is really for wooden and GRP boats as its OK in a car or truck. We are not continuous cruisers and don't want to sign up to MiFi with a contract. Is there any legal way of getting an improved mobile signal within a NB so as to use our data allowance?

We are not continuous cruisers so don't want to sign up to a MiFi contract and invest in that type of equipment, but would like to improve the mobile signal within the NB and use the data allowance on our phones. We are considering the one off investment in a mobile signal booster. Has anybody else done this? We have just bought our second hand nb and everything seems fine. We are a bit confused about the radiator heating. The setup seems standard. 2coil calorifier ( engine and webasto). Both webasto and engine produce lashings of hot water but only the webasto heats the radiators. Should the engine heat the radiators by convection from the calorifier as there is no separate circulation pump or do we need to operate the webasto and use its pump and rely on it throttling back when the engine is running. I have checked there seem to no valves shut etc. Thanks from a newbie!
