Don’t know tbh (am s**t at this stuff) however I checked all the connections and a lot of water came out of this (pic) since I did this the trip has not tripped - about 10 mins now - so I could have been this
-
Am going to try suggestions and will report back - thank you to all
-
It’s just the switch shown in the pic that trips (on front of bollard) when I swopped over this tripped on the other outlet which suggests it’s something to do with my boat have only just come back on board after 6 weeks so boat is damp boat is v old (30 years) and mainly 12v with 240 only for plug sockets when on shore power - don’t run kettle or any other electrical devices on board Am going to look and see if I can see rcd

Thanks everyone for suggestions and questions will try drying yes is bollard at marina - there are two boats plugged in 2 or 3 minutes - that’s what is confusing me as I would think a short would happen immediately? will update
-
Hi hive mind any idea why? Will obvs discuss with marina tomorrow but just can’t work it out after 2/3 minutes switch on shore charger flips off have tried with my power off and neighbours (shared charge point) on and still happens have tried with engine running/not running have tried with heating running/not running think it’s my boat or the shore line?

Hi my bowman cap (no I didn’t know it was called that either) has a hole and the engine overheated i have a new one - the question is does the water/antifreeze I put into the heat exchanger also go into the swim tank or are they on separate circuits? I have a thornycroft Mitsubishi 3cyl engine - pic of bodge job used to get me to a safmooring on the avon

so blacked to gunnels by ABC and painted red above that by them in 2017. Some areas seem undercoated, others dont, overall dont think its very good. So I have been topping up myself. However i would like to know if a reputable painter did a job - how long would you expect it to last?

Hi all and hive mind - question: how often does a boat need painting? I had a professional paint in 2017 but blacked to the gunnels. Paint is now looking tired and i have topped up/done areas but am unsure how long a professional paint job should last (am not impressed with job done btw). I did try to search google and this site for this but have had no joy.

hi - yes cold water is not affected
-
Hi Hive mind Until recently I didn't have a problem with hot water being delivered from either the engine running or the eberspacher heating system. However, recently we nearly ran out of water in the tank - since then the hot water delivery has been poor with the water pump firing intermittently (on/off and not enough water coming out of the hot tap). Do people think I have managed to get an air lock in the system due to running low on water in the main tank? I have attached a photo of my water tank - if I turn the red knob at the bottom it seems to trigger the water pump and ?fill the tank - I then get better hot water delivery for a min or so before I goes back to the intermittent pump thing. Can anyone tell me what they think is going on and what the red knob does? Thanks

thanks Alan

lol - yes but a bit extreme!

Hi all, Can anyone tell me if there is a way (apart from lifting and trying to work out which one is heavier) to tell how much gas is left in a cylinder and if one of them is empty? Pic attached.

Starter battery help please
Seren-y-dwr replied to Seren-y-dwr's topic in Boat Building & Maintenance
actually got this one and fitting tomorrow (delayed going to boat). Even if there is a charging problem (which there might be and I know what to look for) the existing battery is a number of years old before I got the boat 2 years ago so - hey. -

Hi all My starter battery dies last weekend (managed to keep going jumping it from the leisure) - tested and was 12.2 from the multi Assume this is therefore dead as A its quite old B I am sure the charging is ok as had new alternators etc in last year and leisure are ok Can anyone advise me on what starter battery I need to get? Ideally from somewhere like Halfords (as there is one near me) not bothered about cost - want it to work and be low maintainance Engine is an old (1993) Thornycroft Mistubishi K3D thanks :)
