  1. Well it's a bit late now but hulls of this kind are very durable and usually savable. There are plenty of people out there who want to preserve and restore our historic craft, rather than put an order in for yet another clone craft.I imagine it would be an honour for them.

so where were they when this one went down then??

  2. apparently people who think stricken historic boats are ugly and think they have less right to riverspace than clonecrafts.

I hate to say it, but do you seriously think anyone's going to save this? If the owners wanted to preserve it surely they would have already?

  3. Just come back from 3 weeks out including the Tidal Thames and non tidal to Oxford - it'd brilliant!!

Remember to check that your fuel filters are OK and that the water separator is OK - the Thames is not the place to conk out and the engine will be working harder than normal. Check engine coolant as well, AND that the weed hatch is tight down. The boat that came out of Limehouse with us didn't - AAAAGH!!!!

  4. I'm sure mayalld will be excited about this intitative! As always BW does things opposite to what they say they will. I'm totally against the removal of online moorings, especially in this sordid underhand way that BW is using.

Yes it is part of the charm. Removal of the online moorings is a charter for speedsters. There are actually few people who want online moorings removed but the 'controlling' boater elite as usual get their way. I didnt campaign to have the canals restored, back in the 1970's, to have this sort of rubbish foisted upon us. Its not what we want.

I agree with the petition regarding removal of online moorings and have signed it, but what's this cr-p about controlling boater elite? Who are they then?

  5. None that I can think of. In any future case the C&E would have to prove their case. Remember the offence would be avoiding duty!

There would appear o be no technical reason why existing tanks and pumps cannot be used. The Belgians Barges have had this problem for years when crossing into France or Holland. Also (and I know this is heresy) why should we, as leisure users, expect to use cheap fuel for a hobby? AND, red diesel is rubbish anyway. The white is refined to a higher standard and has a much lower polluting factor (in context, of course.....) :)
