  2. thank you for reading and replying. im going there tomorrow so will see if anyone is there to assist! there is def 2 batteries! if i was going to get a largee battery would u attach to the engine or as the leisure battery in ykur opinion?? and waht sizes would u recommend??? dont want to just accept first thing someone tels me?? will update tom when i know what batteries are currently in place. it is in fact an outboard engine your right... 4 stroke?? rimgs a bell if means anything and def only 1 red key xx ps.... the jumo start was with another battery and the engine would bot jump start when the hand cord operated??
  3. ok... lets see if this makes ant sense. I switched the little red key to the off position and tgen started the boat without switching it to on!! ultimately the boat stalled, got a jumo start and then when back to the marina i moored up switched the engine off and then when i tried to restart it wouldnt!! The dial is reading abiut 12/13 when apparently it should be 14?? I have 2 questions...... when i bouggt the boat my friend said i should upgrade one of the batteries to a larger one.... so if im going to do noe seeing as though it wont start. what powere should they be?? i believe one is for leisure and one for the electrics? which one do i put the larger most powerful battery to?? and how do i even tell which is for which?? any help greatly appreciated.... you have all been great so far!
  4. Hi The course notes you speak of on your website... where are these? on here or somewhere else?? Luckily a sense of humour i do have! obly thing guarentees to get you through... my main concern is simply missing something i nees to attend to and my boat sinking!!! sounds hilarious i know, but at least with a car i kinda know they things to look out for. Sure it will all come with time! after all, Rome wasnt built in a day! soonges at the ready and off i go..... i may be lifting the laminate up of the floor too so this i suppose will let me know if theres easier access... Thanks for the warm welcone to the group! glad i stumbeled across it. Reading unfortunately in a long way from preston brook warrington but thanks x
  5. I will check windows today thanks rusty... as far as im aware i thibk the obly tank of water is the one under the sink and this is shut tight... unless theres one somewhere else but i will have a good look round today i pan to do a few hours hard work stripping and sanding the wood and then chilling in the sun if it lasts and maybe just maybe take her on the canal briefly........ As a complete novice at boats if you thibk if any majot things i need to check first please give me a shout.
  6. Hi there thank you so much for the reply. it was in fact the seat in the saloon area i was referring too, should have been clearer but didnt even think if the cockpit as all my time is being soent inside at the monent. As you walk in the one on the right.... i lifted the removable panel up and there was a small pool of water.... the next time i was on her the water had disappeared and then was back again!! I think just moving up and down as the boat moved. It idnt look like too much... gonna try and soak up etc today say a Pint or 2. Obviously I am gonna try get a bilge pump thing fitted... is this super urgent and should i be overly worried?? Turns out the guy i bought it off hasnt done anything at all to her for a year except taking her out and having a bevy on it so im really worried about her up keep or lack of. Going to check the cockpit seat later seeing as you mention it..... think i need to join a club and see if anyone is kind enough give me a whislt top tour of boats lol
