  1. Never heard/read anywhere about hydraulic technodrives beeing noisy. Have you witnessed this or heard etc?
  2. It seems like i solid unit! Unforetunately its a bit too heavy for my aplication. I have to consider the weight. TM345A and Zf25A are about 25kg while prm 750A is over 70kg!
  3. While its a planing hull and its never going to have as many gear changes as a canal boat I still want to get the best and most robust gearbox available. Prm 150 is not available with a 8 degree down angle. No one has answered my questions yeat.
  4. Im considering a 8 degree down angle gearbox for a new Vetus 52hp engine and it seems that my options are technodrive tm345a or a hurth zf25a. What kind of experiences have users had with theese gearboxes? (tm345 and zf25 are the same box except they have a straight shaft output)? Any problems i should know of? How many engine hours they usually last? Any oil leaks? Shaft freewheeling in neutral? Etc Its for a planing hull 5.8m x 2.1m.
  5. How many hours have you used your engine? What is your propeller pitch and max engine rpm you can get? Your combined shaftline weight is much more than with my setup.

  7. How many of you are using vetus bullflex couplings? What kind of experiences with those? What bullflex model and what kind of engine and propeller shaft setups? How many hours you have used it?
  8. You are probably right, it might be that im over thinking... I have allso e-mailed to Nevage prm and im waiting for their opinion asswell
  9. It is, but im guessing there is limit to everything. Including the weight of shaft. Maby bullflex is flexing and accelerating faster compared to propeller shaft when engagin gear and gearbox clutch plates will engage fully before the whole shaft starts spinning, then added extra weight does not matter
  10. I allso belive that its nowhere near to a point that i should be concerded. The thing that troubles me is the shaft weight that the gearbox has to rapidly accelerate when engaging a gear. Will this bullflex absorbe the impact of rapid acceleration eaven tough it is quite massive and add extra weight to my shaft configuration or eaven if i have to do a emergency forward to backwards gear change Im worried about gearbox clutch plates wearing out faster than normal beacose of this.

  12. Hello I have a beta 43hp 2800rpm engine and a prm 150 1:2.09 gearbox on my tresfjord 26 boat the propeller shaft is 35mm and 1.8 meters long. Weights aprox 13,59kg propeller is a 17x14 3-blade weight 7.7kg Im now fitting a vetus flexible coupling Bullflex type 8, it weights 11.9kg A smaller Bullflex type 4 that weight 6.9kg would otherwise be good for my aplication but there is no model for a 35mm shaft My consern is that is there too much combined weight on propeller shaft for prm 150 gearbox to handle, will it wear out faster? Is bullflex coupling going to take care of exrta weight By flexing when engaging a gear? shaft, coupling and propeller weight combined is 32.2kg Best regards Henri
  13. The of gear engine rev is limited to 3000rpm. I dont know how much above 3000rpm it would rev. I think im going to go with the 17x14, 3-blade vetus P3B type propeller (current one is vetus P3B allso) And if im having trouble with engine over reving its better to add pitch to a larger propeller With my and propeller specialists calculators a 17x14 should be just right for my boat.
  14. I have plenty of room for 18 inch propeller.. im just wondering what kind of propellers people have with this engine setup. Beta says that with 1:2 ger ratio (max shaft rpm 1400) the correct propeller is 18x12 2800 engine rpm / 12 pitch = 233 engine rpm per 1 pich But with my setup 1:2.09 max shaft rpm is 1339. 1400rpm - 1339rpm = 61rpm shaft rpm So 61 shaft rpm x 2.09 gear ratio = 127 engine rpm.. It seems if i want a 18 inch diameter propeller it should be 18x12.5... i dont know if any company sells those.
  15. If i remember correctly the top speed with the current propeller is only 8-8.2 knots. I cant go out to test it beacose the boat is out of water for winter. Draft whitout keel is 50-60cm I have been suggested a 17x14 propeller but i have room for 18 inch diameter propeller too.. and it would have a better bite to water Cruising speed was 6.2knots @ 1900rpm.
  16. Hi. I have a norwegian displacemeant / semi displacemeant Tresfjord 26 boat and im thinking about chancing the propeller. 8m long (waterline is 7.4m) and 2.8m wide, draft is 1m. Boat weights 2500kg fully loaded. Beta engine is rated 43hp @2800rpm, prm 150 gearbox is 1:2,09. It says on beta's website that the right propeller for beta 43 with gearbox ratio of 1:2 is a three blade 18x12. Would a 3 blade 18x13 propeller be over pitched? What kind of propellers do people have with this same engine and gearbox setup and what is the achiavable max engine rpm. I dont want a propeller that is oversized and i wont be able to reach 2800rpm My current propeller is a vetus 3 blade 16x14 and im getting maximum of 3000rpm and at cruising speed my propeller slip is 40% Regards Henri
