  1. hi dylan thanks I was looking at the honda 2ka (suitcase) but not sure if this will be ok at start-up, has antone got any thoughts if this would be ok?
  2. thanks for that alex I am going up to the boat this week-end and check the washer out. I know its a zanussi but not sure on how sophiticated the workings are. If it has electronic workings would I need it to be pure sine wave? thanks
  3. I have recently got myself (and er indoors) a boat. When it had its survey the inverter worked fine, but sods law when I went to use it a few weeeks later it failed. Its showing overload and there is nothing pluged in. Called boat elect. out to check and he could<nt help. So my question is do I replace the inverter or go for a generator. We are livaboard and would require it to run the washing machine which has a rating of 1500w What would anyone suggest. I hold my hands up and admit I know nothing at all about inverters etc Please help!!!
  4. I got a 17" lcd from boatshare, brilliant, and great service from philip, a very helpfull guy
  5. inic m again thanks for the replys bottle, liam & dominic, the boat was built in 1991
  6. thanks tony & maverick very usefull info. The boat was very well maintaned up till the owner was taken ill about 18 m0nths ago, since then it has been left. I know that it needs blacking and the exterior needs a paint job. The general condition inside is very good, with no obvious damp signs. thanks again
  7. hi again I raise my head again and hope I am doing this the right way. I am trying to get details of another boat That I am looking at. I have tried "search" button but cant seem to find out anything. (no doubt its prob me doing it wrong) and if so I apologise. I am trying to find out any good/bad experiences anyone has had with the following. boat built by mike heywood and fitted out by john wright. any imformation appreciated
  8. thanks for that, I will be giving him a ring if we go ahead. Thanks to all for the advice. mick
  9. thanks for that, I will contact him if I go ahead, Is he reasonable price?
  10. thanks again guys I will hit that search button and wade through it. I will "duck down in the trench" now until I can ask something of intrest
  11. thanks ian most helpfull. The boat is as I said is in very good order, you can tell it has been very well looked after and not just tidied up prior to my visit. As I said this is only my second post and in total I have'nt had much responce, what am I doing wrong? or am I "boring people to death" I understand that to lots of experienced people this might be the case but as someone very new I was hoping to get some help
  12. Only my second post so I hope that I don't get to much flak!!! We are looking at a 60 ft trad that was built in 1995, has had one owner and , to my limited experience is in very good condition inside and out. we are going to have a second look shortly and if all goes well we will be putting in an offer, subject to survey of course. I have a few questions that I am hoping you good people can help me out on. 1. Would I be correct in saying that some degree of pitting may be present on some areas of the hull. I know that the present owner has blacked it every two years. How deep does it go before it becomes a problem. ( obviously 7mm is a disaster , but you know what I mean) The hull was 10mm when built by R&d fabrications. 2. As I live at present down in Dorset and the boat is up near macclesfield can anyone give me a name of good surveyor and dry dock or slipway for a survey. 3. Would a full survey or hull only be the experts advice. As I have said the condition is very good and it will be liveboard and we will(honest) be continually cruising. any help will be most welcome. Mick
  13. thanks for your reply john. Now that I've mastered my first post I will no doubt be asking many more questions!!!!!
  14. Hi, This is my first posting so I hope I get it right. We are looking at buying a boat and becoming livaboards in may next year full time. However if I see a boat that is more or less suitable we would buy it earlier. My question to you good people is, I have seen a 60 ft trad 1995 that looks like it could be worth going to look at, and although I've gone through the search I cant find any details of anyones experience of the builder or fitout. The boat was built by Barton boat sevices and the fitout was r&d fabrications. Has anyone had any dealings with either. I pressume that they are no longer trading. Thanks for any info. Also I would like to say thanks to cwf and all the members as I have found out so much information, and already my views have changed on what I first thought That we would want!!! I recon I must have read most of whats on the forum to increase my knowledge and thats thanks to you all regards mick
