Thanks to all who turned up - it was quite a good turn out. I hope the landlord was happy with his takings for the evening. It would have been quiet without our raucous bunch. Can someone work out hwo was there please.
Next year it will be Wednesday 30th December hopefully in the same venue.
Hopefully they'll have a kitchen by then. Good to see everyone, albeit a fleeting glance.

When you lot meet up,do you play "guess my forum name",or is it just the usual drinking games?
Worse, it's guess the forum name, boat name, real name or nickname.
Our favourite banter game is "name the
biggest wallysmartest person in a waistcoat" {insert tongue in cheek smiley here} -
Just checked my roster and I'm off that weekend so I better book a hotel room me thinks, maybe two nights are in order

We're thinking about going. Anyone else? It'd be good to know who to look out for and maybe organise a banter. We've been woefully short of banters of late.
Can't go I'm afraid. I agree about the shortage of banters though, I've got a van that needs a run.

Our border terriers name is Moose, so that makes me Moosey!
Me and my precious gift, (and the hound) have just started the looking process and this is an early thank you for all the info we have already gleaned from here.
We live in a small canal town in Staffs and have long time considered doing what you all have already done, it just makes sense.
Kids are nearly gone so the empty nest syndromes kicking in......
I look forward to interacting with you all in the coming days, weeks, months and years ....

A million miles away, or it certainly feels that way. Still a long term plan.

I see it's at Rochester which I think is tidal i.e. brackish water, so hull may be more of a concern.
Yes, it's on the river
MudwayMedway :-)Personally I don't like it, the back doors look like they are off of someone's conservatory and the railings look too high. I'm not keen on the square stern either but we all have different tastes. If it is structurally sound then everything else is just aesthetics. (IMHO)

Boo. That's a shame.
Just to clarify, it's the new year eve one I can't get to Rob, not the 30th, I'm coming to the pub on the 30th

It looks like this is going to be a good banter!
So far those who have said they plan to come - are any of the "maybe's" any closer to confirming yet?
Confirmed:
Mr & Mrs Richard T
Lemontoes & Barry
Chazzy & Rene
Blue String Pudding & Tree Monkey
Dyad
P6Rob
Cheshire Rose & Postcode
Matty40S & Kathleen Bridget
Maybe:
Alan Fincher & Catrin
Pipistrelle
Yay, looks good!
Will you have any Chesterfield Canal calendars again this year Jan?
Not wishing to take this thread but wanting to just give any banterers a chance to join in if they wish....
Some may recall that in the other thread which was locked I mentioned that Dave and I were going to stay over in Luff after the banter on the 30th and had also booked 31st at The Travelodge so we could see in the new year while we are there. I did ask anyone else who was doing the same to get in touch so we could organise a get together on 31st.
Well it now transpires that Cath & Alan Fincher, Barry, Jan, Dave and myself will be having a meal together at The Basin during the evening of 31st December. I just wanted to check whether anyone else wanted to join us so I can try and extend the table booking before they get full up. All welcome to join us
Can't get to this unfortunately

Following on from said banters have been at least 1 wedding and numerous long term relationships, you never know what may happen
And some really great friendships too

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions, much appreciated.

My camper needs repairing and my OH read somewhere that a boat builder specialising in GRP may a better alternative to the caravan/campervan repair centres.
Has anyone got any experience or comment on this?

Me, I'll try and be a bit more sociable than I was at Alan's do, I wasn't feeling my best.

Pending any changes to my work roster, count me in for Fri night

I bought my car from an ebay ad, I went to see it first, agreed a price and did a bank transfer. When he confirmed the money was in his account I collected he car.
If you are going the bank transfer method send £1 first to make sure the bank details are correct, then send the balance. Your bank's fraud dept may get in touch with the big amount before clearing it.

Any part requests anyone - if we are going into the stillages, who knows what we will find

Right that's me packed and ready to hit the road. Anyone wishing to visit me in the motorhome for a cuppa is more than welcome.
See you in an hour or so.

Well we will be tomorrow. We head out from Crick Marina tomorrow on our big adventure. So if you see us heading to Braunston tomorrow aboard Lazy Bee give us a wave.

That is meant to be way . I blame it on the English beer!
Hopefully the weather will be kind to you. I'm sure you'll love it come rain or shine

After legging it over (as opposed to legging through) Dudley and Gosty tunnels, and arriving at Hawne Basin via the gate, Team Leggitt are in recovery mode. At 26.6 miles in total we actually DID walk a Marathon Challenge. And bloody good fun it was too!
Mission for next year is to spread the word and encourage more non- boaters to participate....
I'd be up for that. I did the Shine Walk one year for Cancer Research which was 26.2 miles around London, apart from the riverside bit it was a trudge along streets and I'd rather walk along towpaths.

Dyad, we have a couple of other friends who are coming by motorhome. We checked with the pub and they said "That's no problem, there's plenty of room".
Are great, thanks for that,
