  1. Haven Amlin came out mid range with lowish excess for me - rates will depend on moorings. I will be starting in a specific Marina but it may well change...
  2. Would take on most around the corners - my rear wheel size is larger the than most....and yes I tell all the women that! hmmm....remember seeing one of those hit on the magic roundabout in swindon....the whole thing just fell apart - it was in Worse condition than only fools and horses version! Went through a few bees the other week and yep....OWCH!!!....had to get off to make sure none were lurking in the leading areas of the body.
  3. Not good for a Triker!....rain hurts at 40mph let alone any more
  4. You catch your fish in the mouth!...breathe on the water and then bite!? Sadly the weather out paid to my plans and awaiting the report (due Wed) ...Fingers crossed ....only 48hrs to keep holding your breath!....as am I Still gutted to lose my first option but don't regret my decision based on events. Totally different offering this one and no doubt I shall lose ALL credibility with 99% of people on this site ....but if all goes well I shall be water bound before August! Hope all are well
  5. 1 SLEEP TO SURVEY DAY!!! This time I have a good relaxed feeling so......what can go wrong!? Just rode the trike halfway up England and found the only bloody rain cloud South of Scotland!....rain @ 60mph tends to ping a bit Hope all are well
  6. Hmmm...will have to try that but would need convincing....I like the space so penned in, whilst saving my embarrassment does seem to delimit my rose tinteds shouldn't there be a bar with disco ball above as well. so far from the boating that attracted me, but no doubt often occupied by the type of woman that I never met but yearned for in my teenage years.....well, memories fade but....
  7. But would say - not quite the 'Trad' stern I expected. have enjoyed this thread - thanks all - I'm just a fat clumsy old git so extra space and 'kiddie' rails to stop me falling in has always been my initial draw.
  8. Gap in the market for wi-fi control biputton on the tiller arm to control revs, forward and reverse ....don't worry about wi-if availability as everyone will have 9G in next few years...with special satellite direction controls as back-up ....Guaranteed by <insert name of your choice> party! Either that or a long stick with grippy hand feature
  9. Hadn't even considered wheel steering on an nb...I do like the feel of tiller in hand, as the sweeping arc sort of feels good, not sure how....probably because it is as the dreams go but to gain the space and flexibility it is a consideration.
  10. Ummmm...let me think ...I'm. It biting! ......atiss......pump out....ue - bless me
  11. Right then folks! i never quite understood all of the benefits that each boat offered to its own 'Committed' following and wondered what 'made you' but the type you did?....have you owned different types and how did they go? I realise it is all very personal like pump-out v ....ok ok I won't go there....but!....for me... ...being a newbie with Rose Tinteds on ....& I know most of you will roll their eyes....I wanted the stern space...I had to quickly up my boat length from 40' due to other wants & wishes but this deck space for me was paramount. Semi-Trad - I liked the idea of the wind breaker space etc. but it did start to head towards the Trad access to living space. Trad for me felt like having a garden shed on board so didn't gain any living space so with my glasses on all I could see was.....Me being a grumpy fT old man stood in 6" of deck space in full knowledge that I would be swimming after my boat more often than steering it. .... what experiences bought you into owning a specific type of boat or converted you away from/into?

  13. Seven sleeps to Survey Day! Have to say that when I visited Braunston I was made to feel totally comfortable with their knowledge but most importantly the relaxed nature but without hindering any professionalism - they seemed to suss you out quickly and were ready with any advice where requested. A good crew.

  18. ....have to say I also visited a couple of yards up and around Doncaster (apologies but cannot remember names), and again, REALLY really pleasant, answered any questions and then left me to it on the boat after opening up for me...all but one broker has either given the keys or opened up and chatted then left me to it, the other felt like a bit of an escort with a time limit. Each to their own. 10 days til survey!....start getting your fenders upgraded!

  21. So not Bath to Reading !? i want to do the Devizes staircase but boy!?...there's two days just getting to the top ....given my skills
  22. Cheers Rusty.....better attach a decent bit of twine to it Looks the job. one of them was looking at picking up 70KGs ...maybe a tad over-spec for me
