I can't think why you would want to do that unless you want to spend an extended period on the bridge water. We normally overnight one night on bridge water after leaving parbold, although we don't return within two weeks, I can't see a reason to buy one.
I thought you needed one if returning on the Bridgewater within 28 days but have just looked at their site and I can no longer find any mention of it.

Nobody is right in every case except SWMBO.

If you haven't already I'd suggest you look at the youtube video blogs Journey with Jono and Cruising the Cut the former bought a sailaway a just over a year ago and gives a good idea of what's involved in bringing it up to scratch whereas the latter starts with looking to buy a used boat, purchasing it and gradually making alteration to suit his needs.

I'm also planning to complete the Cheshire Ring sometime this year. Question is travelling from Burscough should I buy a 7 day licence for the Bridgewater?

Old Dock tour is indeed very interesting http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/maritime/visit/old_dock_tours.aspx and free!!

Probably a bit more traffic when we visit in August

You can go all the way up to the lock at the far end, but you need to ring the harbour master first for permission.
It's because they do all sorts of watersports in the docks, and squashing swimmers is a bad thing.
I'd strongly recommend doing the trip up to the pub at the marina at least once
Thanks for that, I know the docks fairly well but couldn't see anything in the CRT literature about moving further through the system.

I've just booked passage through the Liverpool Link to moor at the Salthouse Dock for 7 days this summer. Whilst there is it possible to do a short sightseeing trip through to Brunswick Dock and back or does the boat have to remain static at its mooring until the day of departure?

I have their Bluepower ip65 charger and the Bluetooth connection had worked intermittently when I first got it but now seems to have given up the ghost completely. Tried connecting it to phone and tablet with no success. Most probably a software or compatablility problem but I suppose it could be a dodgy charger.
Having read Seadogs post #14 I update my chargers software and now the Bluetooth connection works fine. Hurrah.

They do a personal engine maintenance course on your own boat, now £170 plus parts.
https://shop.rivercanalrescue.co.uk/Courses/PersonalEngineMaintenance.aspx
I did it when I got my boat, to refresh my memory of servicing engines (spoilt by years of company car ownership) and to familiarise myself with the idiosyncrasies of my boat.
Course lasts 4 hours, and as the technician had completed the engine course in much less than that, he showed me how to look after various other systems.
I was looking at this http://www.rivercanalrescue.co.uk/other-services/engine-inspections/ but the maintenance course seems more practical. Thanks for the quick responses.....now where's my chequebook

I'm thinking of booking the River Canal Rescue engine inspection and service. Anyone here booked it in the past and is it worth £190? In future I'd like to do things such as oil and filter changes myself but I'd like to watch someone who knows what they're doing do it first!

Don't shoot them as you may find yourself up before the beak.

I doubt you can get better insulation than a 8 foot thick brick wall!

The boat looked great but the converted horse box in the same programme looked like a death trap, inadequate ventilation and a stove far to big for the space.
-
Thanks for the replies. Just thought I'd get one as backup during my winter jaunts.

Would this jumpstart my 32hp Nanni Kubota diesel? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Starters-RAVPower-Emergency-Charging-Flashlight/dp/B075ZM5K3Y/ref=gbps_tit_m-5_1a75_e4e4ddc4?smid=A296JJ7EW4ORVE&pf_rd_p=2d281ba4-72d6-4610-97a1-ff6f4c7d1a75&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-5&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=118857031&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=SH7X1CJAGQ08C54ZDMTR

Looks like someone who has never used ebay before, and who has little/no knowledge of boats or boating. He probably lives/works in Warwick, but the boats could be anywhere.
Perhaps an executor doing his best for an estate?
Perhaps Roger Horsley of Warwick?
https://uk.linkedin.com/in/roger-horsley-54a5b875
Chaplain with a firm of solicitors?
Fits with the name of the boat and the fact that it's moored not far from the Jaguar plant.

Couldn't find this "Andrew" on the index.
Sounds beautifully appointed having a Beta engine, a sink and a gas ring. Tempting description!
Looks like it was previously known as Tranquillity https://canalplan.org.uk/boat/15618

A little dated perhaps but the Lockmaster maps http://www.lockmastermaps.co.uk give a very useful overview of large areas of the system.

but what's that on the rug?

gotta love those 10 watt solar panels
