  1. Hi I found the problem, both lines are pumped to cold???? So someone took the trouble to install a mixer and plum both the cold, seems pretty daft. There is a copper pipe from boiler which feeds shower and I am assuming I cut this and tee into that?
  2. Been quoted approx £275 by Tankbusters, but sounds like I might be able to do it myself? I might try dip the tank to test the diesel.... How effective are they at cleaning the tank as may be worth it for that as doubt I'd be able to do that?
  3. Sorry, should have read it's NOT worth cleaning the diesel....
  4. At the moment my woes with the boat are never ending! A few weeks ago the engine cut out and would not restart. Thought it was a fuel problem so replaced both fuel filters and the one closest to the tank was full of brown gunk so suspected diesel bug. Tried to restart after bleeding but no luck. Called River Canal Rescue and they could not start and told to get tank busters in to clean diesel and tank and then call them out again. Someone told me it's really worth cleaning the diesel as you pay based on how dirty it is so best to just get rid of it and clean. Not really sure how tank busters work but any advice on the most cost-effective solution to getting rid of the bug would be appreciated? Thanks
  5. No it doesn't fire the boiler as checked when on hot position. Will take the advice to stop water flow and replace tap and hope that works. Thanks for taking the time to give me some advice.
  6. It flows cold swung over to left and lifted up, same for the right side. I don't know what kind of tap it is. It came with the boat and it has never produced hot water. Don' think its piped to cold as if comes off a junction that feeds hot water to shower. I can't allow so much water to spurt out to see if it flows hot.
  7. Single lever tap with flex hoses out the bottom yes. Get water regardless if opened on hot or cold side and good flow. When I slackened off hoses both spurt water so presume its the tap that is faulty. I have a new one to try but need advice on how to safely turn off water supply as no isolation on the basin tap pipes?
  8. Its not the spout as really good flow out of it and cleaned out with no hot water
  9. So slackened off both pipes and water spurts out both so presume its the tap at fault. Hot water is not a problem to shower and kitchen. Tried to isolate water by shutting stopcock located just after water tank at fore and tried to drain basin tap but little came out and the pump makes a continuous humming sound. Was afraid was doing it some damage so turned the water back on. Any suggestions as to how I stop water to basin tap to replace, should I be turning off stopcock as well as the water pump? Thanks
  10. Thanks for the advice, just managed to get tap unbolted and will try what you say. Water flows out the tap in both cold and hot positions with good flow. Have dug out filter, hasn't made a difference so will try slacken off and see what happens....
  11. Hi all I have a bathroom tap that does not trigger the gas boiler. It's a mixer tap and the flow is good so presuming it's not a flow issue and perhaps a faulty tap? It has never worked since I bought the boat in Dec but have had more pressing issues to deal with. There is not an isolation valve for the tap itself so thinking I need to use the stopcock for the whole water system to inspect. Is there anything I need to be aware of before using the stopcock i.e will my water pump self-prime when I turn it back on and my re-pressurize my gas boiler? Any advice appreciated. Thanks Thomas
  12. Thanks so much for giving me the number, spoke to him and have a solution. What a lovely man and so knowledgeable.
  13. No coolant leaked into the tray it may leaked into the main bilge area. There was definitely some oil in the tray that was not there before as I when I took delivery of the boat the whole bilge was flooded and I drained and cleaned it. Could I start, topping with coolant and monitor temp and smoke in neutral or should I take her for a little cruise to test properly? She started relatively easily yesterday without easystart for the first time but presume this is because its getting warmer. However smoke was whitish but I did not leave running long as was worried so she did not get up to temp. Appreciate you taking time to give me some advice?
  14. I think the engine generally needs some attention as very difficult to start and smokes a lot all the time. Noticed that after it overheated smoke was whitish instead of black. There also seemed to be oil in engine tray which was there before I went out. Could the engine overheating lead to oil escaping? I topped up the oil and none appeared to leaking out after?
  15. I am not aboard at moment but sales spec said it was a Lister STW3?
  16. Its a Lister, 3 cylinder, in-line, naturally aspirated, diesel engine. Not sure what model number as nothing on the engine itself?
  17. I took Crosby out for the first time on Wednesday for a short cruise. The engine overheated, coolant squirted out the header tank and then cut out. After a few minutes it started again and I managed to get back to Marina but really worried there is something wrong with engine. I did find a lot of weed, rope and plastic around the prop. I need to travel from Aldridge to Tipton to have the hull painted next weekend but not sure this is sensible now. Does anyone know a good mechanic in the area (Aldridge Marina) who might be able to help me please? Thanks
  18. Thanks for the responses. I got one unblocked with the wire curtain rail but the other won't unblock! I'll get a wire coat hanger. Great idea on the chains but how would you feed the chain down the pipes considering mine is L shaped? Thanks
  19. I am in Aldridge Marina?
  20. The wooden benches on my foredeck need replacing. Anyone know someone who cuts these to size as they curved on the side that sit flush to hull and don't fancy trying to cut this shape myself? Thanks
  21. Sorry should have read, did you cut the existing drainage rails out and use existing hull exits?
  22. Its Ralph on 07710343773. Norton's will not refund my deposit unless someone else books in my slot on 28th August!
  23. Did cut the existing drainage pipes right out and use the existing hull exits. My pipes are square shaped.
  24. Hi all I have drainage rails on the stern which were blocked when I bought the boat and resulted in flooding the engine bay. I unblocked them but they keep blocking even though I cleaned the rails out. The rails drain vertically downward to an L shaped bend and out the side of the hull horizontally. No amount of poking with a long screwdriver unblocks them anymore. Can you give me some suggestions as to what might work to unblocked them? P.S. I am waiting for a pram hood to be made for the stern which I am hoping will prevent the rails having to drain so much off the stern in the future. Thanks very much for taking the time read. Thomas
  25. got the number and booked her in!
