One of the good things about Celtic bands is that they never get so famous they they aren't the guys in the acoustic session down your local, so they're all quite well house trained and pretty good a squashing onto small spaces to reel off a set. At one point these were the chaps next-door, and I didn't have a teeny tiny crush on the guy in the hat ? .

Much as I like a good reel, you might need a Duke of Perth rather than a Dashing White Sergeant lest everybody all fall over themselves ?, A Gay Gordons would need really teeny weeny steps and you couldn't go off course at the twirly bits or you might face plant into a wall, but if every one all stood really close you could probably pull off a Strip the Willow with out too much incident. Could you make sure you film it all though cos that I really want to see. 

 

ETA - But you could swap Country Dancing for Highland and then you could Sword Dance and Hornpipe with out much ado.

When we are commenting on a death on the waterways, a place many of us regard as home whether or not we live afloat it may pay to be sensitive - "Is it true, is it necessary, is it kind" - this protocol need not be applied to the merits of composting toilets, the ascent of Wigan locks, or whether the prince of Elbonia should be given an audience with Rod Stewart.

 

I recall about ten years ago a drowning was reported on here and it turned out the unfortunate sole was on his way home from visiting a forum members  - jokes would have been very unfortunate, but it had a wider impact as well, as one other member (me) was dealing with the aftermath of a similar incident at the time. It's not just those directly affected, but those who have "been there" in other tragedies. 

 

Death affects a lot of people in different ways, and it pays to be a little bit circumspect before cracking jokes about it on what is a public forum.  

I would've normally just given a quiet greenie but as I can't - Well said, and with your usual wisdom and kindness.

I have just read the newspaper report which is linked to the opening post, and it does state clearly that foul play is NOT suspected. One member obviously thought it was, and I agree that his post could cause further distress. so it has been removed.

 

I have said what I am entitled to say and I don't feel the need to expand on what I have said.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after the body of a man was found in the canal in Brewood this morning (Thursday 16 January).

 

Officers were called at 7.25am by a member of the public to reports of a body in the canal near to the Bridge Inn pub at Kiddemore Green.

A cordon is in place. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Detective Inspector Neil Poultney, of CID, said: “We’re very keen to speak to people who may have been in the area and have seen something to get in touch.

“This is busy spot for boaters and walkers.

Anyone with any information should message Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter quoting incident number 80 of 16 January, call 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

I'm with EE and I've never really had a problem regardless of where I am but there will always be somewhere you can't get a signal. 

 

One of the reasons you hear 3 mentioned so often is because they do and package called 'all you can eat' which basically gives you unlimited data for your internet usage.

Then you need to have something to use as a router, some people have a phone that they use as a hot spot and some use a little myfi device, what ever you use it probbly can't be something you need to hand because it will have to be next to a window or out in the cratch or it won't get a signal through the steel of the boat. 

 

I had and absolutely fabulous Huawei mobile wifi device that I used as a hot spot router thingy but I don't know what people are thinking about Huawei these days.
