  1. I have had my new boat about five months and last few moves I have made I noticed increase in smoke and felt loss of power, I have done a full oil and oil filter change, but still the smoke and this time temp rise to 100, it normally runs at 90, I pulled over and noticed that my water inlet pipe is just above the leg but it had no filter on it, so I stripped the pipe off and there was small amount of algae inside it cleaned it. Now engine side I put my finger inside and it was blocked with algae but luckily there is a wire mesh built into the system, I got as much out as I could and started the boat and now I was getting a nice flow of water from the exhaust. the engine is a thornycroft 108. So now can anyone help me as to what filter I can put on the end of a hanging in water pipe to prevent this from keep happening.
  2. I looked quite hard no markings at all I am having to go with this sliding groove around switch as the area to feed the wires, I need it fitted tomorrow as we are in for some wet weather thereafter, so have no choice has to be there.
  3. Yes the power is shown as going through fan housing surround only no hole for the wire to go through, only a small bracket with very thin cut out runners I assume it must be fed through that but it don't look right as it distorts the switch housing. I have built a 25mm spacer my boat has single roof skin the vent has a minimum requirement of 25mm. I am fitting it tomorrow I have fed the wires through the bracket slider grove that will have to do.
  4. No it don't, I know how to wire it and I think I can see how the wire might go through the unit only it don't feel right.
  5. Hello I am going to install a 12v vent on my boat, I have everything ready to get going but I just can't work out how the lead for the power goes through the vent other than me having to cut away some of the plastic casing and I do not feel that's correct the company would not expect us to do that. Does anyone know how I get the lead outside of the case?
  6. Thank you both for the advice and your time.
  7. Hello I have a norman 23 and it has a Enfield Z drive, I am sometimes having a problem where the reverse lever gets very stiff and hard to put in gear, then followed by a clump and engine cuts off. I don't go from forward to reverse in one movement I allow time for the prop to stop, so it's always forward - pause - reverse. The clump sound is very off putting followed by dead in the water. I have only had the boat since may this year, and I need to add sometimes it goes in reverse without any problem. Can anyone advise? The Engine is a thornycroft 108
