It says on the spec that they're putting in a 200 Gallon water tank which is approximately 900 litres. It will be a stock 70' x 12' Eurocruiser but only part fit, so only the Main bedroom will be complete to get it within budget.

Yes that's what I said, the devise I used to tell me the size of radiators for each room in a house won't work in a boat, completely different perimeters

Hi, because my kitchen has a tall oven housing in the design the same as a standard Eurocruiser layout then the hob will be going in the breakfast bar worktop. I'm also thinking about having LPG Fridge and Freezer but I know nothing about those so I'll be doing lots of research on that subject.

Thanks, I know a little bit about BTU and radiators as Iv'e fit quite a few and had this little clever device that when you put in how many windows, outside walls, room size, etc it told you the BTU and radiator you need, different kettle of fish on a boat as the calculations wouldn't work the same as it's sat in cold water. But yes I'll be going for 3 doubles.

No not having an electric oven now, it will be a Belling LPG oven. I was having an electric oven until I came on this forum and started asking questions but that's what we're all here for, likeminded people giving, asking and taking advice. And I can't thank you all enough!!! Richard X

So when I thought this mine field was only the size of my back garden it's turning out to be the size of a football pitch! I'm going back to Collingwood in a couple of weeks just to confirm everything so I'll mention 24v volts and see what they say, I've already spoken to Beta and they were very, very helpful and gave me lots of advice, Collingwood were putting in a Canaline as standard but I wanted to upgrade to a Beta which is why I asked for their advice. Ian at Collingwood has also been very open and honest and given me some good advice which is why I've chosen them to build my boat.

That all makes perfect sense, so I'll stick with the 1800w inverter they're putting in as standard, then upgrade batteries, inverter, etc, when I know what I'm doing otherwise I'll kill the batteries and have a set up that's not working in harmony with each other? I won't be able to afford to put solar panels in until next year but I'm planning on having 4 or 6

Thanks for that, I'm guessing a 3.5kw inverter 4 x 110amp batteries with room to add one more just in case, and have as many appliances as I can 12v or LPG while keeping power consumption to a comfortable minimum without going to the extreme of sitting in the dark? Well this is definitely a learning curve!

No, I'm buying their standard model without upgrades to get it in on budget but I now have a little extra cash to do essential upgrades, so I need to know what is essential at this stage and what can wait for another time when funds allow.

Yes, I suppose it's similar to when you first learn to drive, everyone tends to over or under steer but you soon learn and know when and where to turn the wheel, well, most people anyway! :-)

Hi all, I'm new to boating and have another question! I'm having a 70' x 12' widebeam built and the boat builders are putting in a 1800w inverter as standard but I've been advised by another boater to upgrade to a 3500w if the budget will allow, bearing in mind that I'm new to boating and haven't got a clue and still learning about 12volts, sizes of alternators, engine size, etc, etc. It will be live aboard and in a marina with electric hook up but I'm hoping to be a continuos cruiser in a few years if I can afford to retire Thanks, Richard.

Ok thanks for all that, so in summary the 3 rads and towel rail I'm having fitted should add up to 5.2kw or there abouts for the 5.2kw webasto to work properly/efficiently? Well that makes perfect sense!!! Cheers!

Thanks for that Mike, that sounds like a good idea! Yes I'm putting in a 5kw stove. It sounds to me like the 5.2kw webasto they're putting in will be fine for now and doesn't need upgrading to a 9kw, and if it does put another 5.2kw inline with the one that is already in?!!! Yes and water pump but gas hob. So are the ovens on boats not your standard kitchen ones? They look the same.

Hi, It's having a 80amp dedicated alternator, is this big enough? I'm just using the gas for the hob.

The boat builders are putting a 5.2kw Webasto heating system in to my 70 x 12 widebeam, is it worth upgrading to a 9kw one? Thanks!
