I'll take one and upload it ?

I was just checking for serial numbers / model numbers etc. and there's what look's like a filter housing on the diesel return line. This isn't in the manual, so I'm not sure what it is and whether it contains a filter that should be changed along with the others?
-
Thanks again to all - some great tips ?
-
I assume that would be more effective as I could use a nice big one?
-
Thanks all, about to order new filters all round ?

If you don't want the USB plug, this one will be fine:

Thanks folks.
The fuel cock is fully opened and the prop is clear. I haven't ever checked the filter in the bayonet cap end though, so that's something I should do!
I'm not sure how I should determine if any of the supply pipes are too small - I kind of assumed that as Vetus is built on a Mitsubishi base they would be fine. I shall dig out my micrometer and do some measuring (external dia only!)

This is the one I use:
(It wasn't from this supplier, but was this brand)
They quote an efficiency of >96% which I can't verify but it runs very cool so that's a good guide imho

Hi all,
My Vetus M4.15 runs nicely all day at 1500rpm (which gives me ~4mph), but if I push it above this (when I'm on the large rivers) it starts to run rough. If I take it over 2000rpm it stutters any will cut out if I don't drop the revs back to 1500 or below.
I recently completely filled the tank and it can now manage higher revs before running rough.
Do you think I need to sort out water in the bottom of the tank, or does anyone know whether injector problems could give this problem?
Many thanks in advance!

My MiFi is working well via a 12v to 5v converter that I got from eBay. It has a standard phone charger plug on its output cable so plugs straight into the MiFi.
Internally it is a solid state dc to dc converter, so no transformer and very efficient.

It seems to me it would be cheaper to get a CRT gold licence (even with the reduced early bird discount) than an EA licence...

What size radiator(s),piping and calorifier do I need to install to match the output of a Boatman stove? ?

-
Yes, it's as Alan says, will the heat generated be too much for 1 rad and a cal?
-
Thanks for your quick replies folks.
I was hoping to use gravity but the stove will be at the "high" end, so sounds like it would need to be pumped.
Do you think the 4kw output of the Boatman boil the water if I only had the calorifier and 1 rad?
-
Hi all,
I am looking at installing Boatman stove with a back boiler in my 38ft narrowboat.
I was proposing to power a calorifier and a single rad at the back of the boat (the stove will be at the front).
Do you think the back boiler will be too much for this arrangement?
Thanks in advance,
Nick

Thanks guys.
I was thinking now Morco's are obsolete we're going to have to find an alternative at some point. If I do go for one of these I'll certainly report back.
-
Could I install one of these?
It's for a non live-aboard narrowboat with propane already installed.
It gets good reviews, is very small and has battery powered ignition.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Gents.
I'm on the Coventry at the moment and will move to the grand union at Braunston at the weekend, so looking forward to experiencing double locks!
I got an EA licence as my home mooring will be in EA waters, and got a 1 month CRT licence to cover me from Mercia to the Nene, so I think (hope!) I'm covered there. I ordered a lock key for the Nene when I applied for the EA license which should arrive soon but I wasn't aware I need a different key for the middle levels, so thanks for the link to FOTRN where it tells me where to get one

After a longer than expected wait for a surveyor (busy time of year for these guys) and the paperwork etc. I'm finally on my way and *really* enjoying it with the help of a willing son. I'm a few days from the Nene, and @Simon - you suggested I check back here for advice as I have never been on this river.
-
Thanks all for your recommendations It seems this is the busiest time of year to get surveys done, so long waiting lists!
-
Thanks Peter for pointing out that the mouth of the Nene is in fact the scary end that goes into the sea!
My final destination is the River Lark in Cambs. I am planning to head for Oundle Marina initially, who will clean and black the hull, before heading out to the Lark.
Thanks Scholar - sounds like I need a few pointers for my trip up / down the Nene.
Cheers all!

Thanks all for your great suggestions and offer of support - it certainly feels like I'm joining a very friendly and welcoming community!
Sailing her back does feel like it would be a great adventure, and a way to get to know the boat well.
As soon as the survey is done I'll decide what works best and update this thread / contact folks.
Cheers!

Hi,
Could anyone recommend a surveyor for a boat on the Trent and Mersey in the Derby / Stoke on Trent area?
Thanks in advance,
Nick

Thank you all for your comments so far - the boat is a standard beam (6' 10")
Vetus engine rough above 1800 revs
