There are a few solutions. Can open it in Paint or Paint3D or similar and save it as a jpg. With a bit of luck it will compress it below the limit.
Alternatively you can use a third party image compressor website. Essentially you upload the original photo, it then compresses it and lets you download the compressed version which you can then upload here. The website linked below lets you do this
https://imagecompressor.com/
The other alternative is to use a third party image host. However, these have a tendency to disappear after time so I wouldn't recommend this. -
I can't seem to reproduce this issue which is making it difficult for me to troubleshoot I'm afraid. Can any further reports please include the following:
Browser name and version:
Operating system:
On the face of it, it looks like a certificate issue but it's weird how it does not occur for everyone. - Typically certificate issues cause more widespread symptoms, which is not the case here. -
I have fixed this. All donations welcome. link here 🙃

In my case I bought a boat back in 2015 outright. Lived on her for nearly 5 years, had the best time of my life. Then approaching my mid 30s, it dawned on me that if I don't jump on the housing bandwagon sooner or later, it may be difficult to do so. With that, I bought a house with a mortgage and then sold the boat. This all happened in the months leading up to the pandemic, when house prices subsequently rose dramatically. It was a good move as I wouldn't have been able to afford the house I have now if I left it much later.
When I lived aboard, having no fixed abode was an issue, the only address I could use was over 100 miles away. This made it challenging to register at GP or anything to do with official documents. People get around this using family/friends addresses etc but it's less than ideal. Also, many (if not most) marinas are non residential and thus don't allow you to use their address for anything official although there may be some exceptions. This too was a PITA.
My plan now is more or less along the lines of what MtB suggested. I will pay off the house and buy another boat. By which time I will either be in a position to afford both or failing that, I may get a lodger but that is undecided for now. Of course, nothing is set in stone but it's good to have a plan.
Living aboard permanently is not as easy as it's often portrayed to be. The winters are harsh and can be depressing. You will know every storm by name whereas in a house you may not even notice there was a storm. The summers can be unbearably hot (more so on a boat) and it can make the experience very uncomfortable at times. This is why many go back to land. That said, the good times I experienced on a boat are unmatched by anything else. Of course that is just my experience, everyone will have a different story to tell.

I've always liked Flow With Mylo. He doesn't post often but his content is fun and good quality. And of course, Court Above The Cut, both of course very different.
It's good that David from Cruising The Cut has got another boat. His videos aboard seem more entertaining, almost giving a sensation of going along for the ride.- 1

I receive email notifications of posts in topics I'm following. A recent example is copied below.
The links are all to "http://url6836.canalworld.net/...", and fail due to a certificate problem: "Firefox does not trust this site because it uses a certificate that is not valid for url6836.canalworld.net. The certificate is only valid for the following names: *.sendgrid.net, sendgrid.net"
Hi Francis Herne,
Stroudwater1 has posted a comment on a topic, Change of canal gauge locations
Posted in Change of canal gauge locations Was Over lock in The Hereford and Gloucester canal narrowish beam, aroubd 8ft ? I believe it was. However I'm not clear if Llanthony Lock was alwa... Go to this Post
— Canal WorldI had this issue a few weeks ago but it stopped occurring without me doing anything and as there were no other reports of it at the time, I didn't look into it further until now.
I have since tested it again but using Firefox 121.0 and Chrome 120.0.6099.129. I was unable to reproduce the issue. Is it possible to update Firefox to the most recent version and let us know if the issue remains?

I'd also recommend considering your options if you pursue this and later decide it's not for you. - Would it be easy to get back on the housing ladder again? If not, it's potentially a big risk.

I realise it is not easy to raise the money to get a boat and a house, but if you can then do it.
Good advice.
For me, not having a "fixed abode" local to my boat was a real issue, making it more difficult to access service and receive post etc. Having a physical address may make life much easier.

Writing this from an Android, no issues here. Does look like a cache issue though

The only edit window that would really address my problem is several months, which for post editing might as well not exist.
Possible solution to the mismatch here: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/458499-customize-edit-time-per-app/?do=findComment&comment=2847761
Duplicating the user group seems weird, I don't see why it can't be applied to the default group of registered users.
Once I ran another IPB forum that I could poke around and test on, but no longer. 🙁
I quite like the 24h edit window for posts, often I post late at night, reread the next day and revise all my phrasing...
There's more than one group at current, so it wouldn't quite work for us in the way they suggest - but the same logic could apply by using secondary permissions/groups but then it raises the question; would it be unfair to give access to some members but not all?
Another thing that could work would be to give Patrons extra perks (longer edit window, slightly bigger avatars to name a couple possibilities) and in doing so it may be fairer in that it would be accessible, provide members extra benefits + help encourage members to donate towards the running costs. I think the idea was floated before but I forget exactly what was said. -

Following on from my other question I created a few events.
The timer on how long one can edit a post for (a few hours?) seems to apply to them.
I wanted to put things up early to make sure people know about them in good time, but there are various unconfirmed details (and a couple of confirmed-at-the-meeting-this-evening details) that I'd like to add.
Can the editing restriction be removed from calendar events please?
Had a look. My immediate thought was that the edit window is too low. Though the setting that defines the edit window also applies to all content, including posts.
It's currently set at 24 hours which is somewhat generous for editing posts, but less so for editing events. The problem we've got is that if we remove the edit window altogether, it could increase the risk of misuse and evasion of site moderation, but perhaps we need to find a better balance. I will raise this with the team in The Lockhouse and will let you know the outcome.

Should be fixed now. Thanks for flagging.

I used to know someone on the G&S who had these hatches/windows installed about 5-6 years ago, I think by yourselves. For some reason they were not painted. I advised her to treat/paint them asap but she did not, though never understood why! Needless to say she is having them all replaced now. Whereas these look like they are pre-treated and prepped ready for painting?

I must have changed from Freeserve many years ago 2018? but this was a recent event when my account needed verification and sueb didn’t work.
Sorry, bit late to the party. Has been a very busy week at work. I'm not sure why you have two accounts as we definitely did not do that but I can merge them if you wish which will combine the post counts. If so, which username/account would you like to keep? Note there is a possibility you may need to reset your password afterwards.
Also, I recommend always ensuring the email address on file is up to date and valid. If we receive too many bounce-backs, members will be prompted to re-validate or change their email address which is how I think this issue arose.

We will be updating Canal World to the latest version of Invision this weekend, either late Saturday or Sunday evening. Canal World will be down during and the maintenance is expected to be completed within a 2 hour window. This is a minor update in that the overall look and feel will remain the same but there may be some minor differences. I will confirm on completion.

I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to all those who kindly donated, much appreciated! We invest all monies received to maintain the site and depend on our Patrons who allow us to do this while being 100% ad free. More details will be posted in Nigel's next financial update.
For anyone who would like to donate, you may of course do so by clicking the secure link below:

Thanks again- 2

Will have a look to see if there is a bypass option.
We could turn off the feature though it's probably worth pointing out that it's not a good idea to post email addresses on a public forum. They will get harvested by bots and the recipient will likely receive spam as a result. It's not such a problem for companies/organisations with anti-spam systems in place, such as the CRT who route their email traffic through ProofPoint.

Clear cache first. If still not working then which browser are you using? Check to ensure it's up to date.

You are not alone. I did make a request for plain English because I do not understand but They simply requoted with an additional error.
Sorry for the typo. Perhaps updating it via my phone was not a great idea. I have since amended the FR&G to correct this.
The FR&G are intended to be short and concise. However, if there is anything that is still unclear or ambiguous, please feel free to let us know and we will be more than happy to clarify and/or review the FR&G as necessary.
As an aside, whenever we update the FR&G (which is not often) the forum software will ask members to review & accept. This includes any amendments to fix any typos.

Stretching a point somewhat as it’s not allowed to be prescribed for smoking 🤣 . It’s very rarely prescribed for anything as far as I can see. The stuff smoked is unlikely to be pure drug.
It could well be against the terms of the marina mooring conditions?
I’ve not smelt it in our marina but there’s certainly a fair few ccs who smoke it. I’m not sure it’s too wise as smoking in a boat plus mind altering drugs (including alcohol) are a bit of a fire hazard? For that reason I have to say it would worry me a little being moored next to them.
That's true though vaping cannabis in its pure form is one method that some specialist doctors suggest. There's actually quite a few private specialists who will prescribe medical cannabis to patients who meet the criteria for one of many medical conditions. Unfortunately vaping it in its pure form will still leave a pungent smell typically associated with cannabis, though it will supposedly dissipate more quickly.

In my time boating I've noticed that in certain midlands marinas smoking of cannabis is widespread.more so recently than back pre 2010.
Has anybody else noticed this ? The marinas in question part of a large chain seem to turn a blind eye I'm wondering why.
This isn't about being judgemental I'm just interested in other boaters experiences to see if it's a generally acceptable thing in marinas...discuss
Cannabis has been legal since 2018 if prescribed by a specialist Doctor for medicinal use.
