  1. We had this thread running on the old forum so I’ve been back to précis the boats in build. Been able to use the new facilities of the new forum – people in blue have re-registered (as of 10/10/2004) under the new forum with the same name. We have: Nick Howe who was expecting a shell delivery about mid-May 2004. Nick Waddington was hoping for a September 2004 shell delivery Nigel Bowden – hoping for early 2005 – Jonathan Wilson shell and a planning meeting with Nigel’s builder was due to take place in October (from 01/09/2004 post) Richard Busten – Barry Hawkins started Richard’s shell in August and, from his postings in various threads, Richard is already lining out and working out how to get the boat from Athertsone to Crows Nest on the Trent & Mersey – which will be his first trip on a canal . Tralfamdorean was expecting his shell from Jonathan Wilson in June/July 2004 – couldn’t track down an update. Stan Hesketh – took delivery of a 57ft Stirling Sailaway on 15 June 2004. Back in Wigan and Stan and his son were well into the fit-out according to his post on 01/09/2004 Wynd Lass (nb Black Pearl) – the lucky girl has an October finish date , but she deserves it as her boat is several months late and she has been living in a 14 foot caravan since last December. (Jon – can we have a lock in to celebrate when Black Pearl is launched? ) Gary Stacey – Purchased a widebeam shell from Eastwood Engineering in March 2004 and was about 2/3rds way through fit-out in August Rusty Duck had signed with Bluewater Boats with a January 2005 build slot Sweeney MCC Stenson start his boat on 11 October Viking is giving build signals and promises to keep us informed. Oliver (that’s me) – Jonathan Wilson shell being fitted out by a new builder (Darren Aldridge) who has set up on his own after 9 years with a well-known firm – we are his first bespoke build, he won out over some stiff competition. We hope that we will be cruising in November (desperately trying to stop my secretary sticking meetings in the diary – don’t people realise I’ll have more important thing to do than work ) Let’s hope the others register – or have registered but under another name.
  2. Has anyone else seen the advertising hoardings with 3 narrowboats going over an aquaduct? Is it the Pontsyclytte (however you spell it)? Don't suppose anyone here supplied the narrowboats, did they? I think it is advertising a telephone network
  3. How do you 'officially' launch the boat once it is finished? When the shell got put in the water we shared a bottle of champagne with builder and the crane driver (once he had the boat in the water), but what do we do when we take it out of the shed and cruise off to our moorings. (Boat hasn't been taken out of the water again so no more craning to do)
  4. John The trick is not to click on the Repy" which appears at the end of each person's post but to go down to the bottom of the thread where there are two more Reply buttons. If you use one of those then you don't get the reply of the other person as a quote before your reply.
  5. Viking I know that Clifton Cruisers have had two new boats go into their smallish fleet this year. One had an interesting bathroom arrangement in that there were two identical shower rooms(each with loo, handbasin & shower), one the mirror inage of the other, each being a triangle. A corridor between them took you from one side of the boat, so they were sort of a cross boat bathroom.
  6. Unless I log in I can't get into Boat Handling - as a 'guest' it tells me I'm not authorised to use that part of the system. But when I log in, it lets me see the threads. Is it just me?
