  1. As the title reads, just fish with Respect to everything on the canal especially wildlife.

I am fed up of seeing geese with fishing wire around their necks and my dog chewing on it on the side of the tow path.

This is not an anti fishing rant I get on with many that I know but just take home what you bring.

It's horrid to see a geese choking.

    Please.

  2. From landline reading exactly 14.7volts, flickering red light  (leasure side). On first start up and cruising at 1200rmp.

Revs up to 1500rpm no flickering.

For my boat I think it was just damp only because it's fine when theirs no fog or super wet weather.

I have a stern cruiser with boards/engine open to the elements.

I guess it might be moisture within the alternator.  (Only a guess)

  3. Sorry but I agree with the OP,  I too am p!seed off with n@bbers dumping crap on the tow path and making it hard to walk past.

It's only the 1% that do it but when they do it they do take the piff.

I feel like a tramp when moor next to them.

(Weird thing is their normally really easy to talk too and quite nice) lol

i would be very disappointed if you didn't post again.

you raised very valid points which quite a few of my posts illustrated, both observed and in pictures.

Keep posting, don't let the happyCRTclappers get you down.

Matt thanks, but you see it because your on the cut moving about,  I can't see or imagine any one on the move 24/7 that  can't.

I know a load of crt tent popup people (donaton hunters), !nar nothing this week!, really really friendly people that need and deserve a wage but no direct debits being signed up by canal users.

Some folks on here need to pull their head out if the sand.

Sorry but that's the bear truth....

  5. Going to reply very short,

Raising this post does not mean I worry to much but it's a concern I have without going into detail of my area and what I've seen and heard my post is valid especially to the cost to subcontracter's to carry out canal repair's.

(Who I know very very well)

Someone mentioned maybe I might have set my expectations too high and had enough of boating.

(God knows where they got that from)

I love this life, don't put me down as a tosser, ive done 24/7 3 years. (Mud/Shit/Cold & moving every single week)

Sometimes posts on cwdf turn into a good banter but later arguments trying outflank the previous poster......

    Why?

Just have a laugh but discuss stuff.

On another 13amp thread some bloke was really rude and made nasty demoralizing comments about my mental degeneration as a person.

See ya.  I will read cwdf but I will not post again.

Take it less aggressively in bullying the (new to boating)

Whilst walking back from Northwich to Anderton through Carey Park the other night I also heard a couple of Tawny Owls doing their thing, and a short way further on a Barn (screech) Owl letting us know he was there.

Off topic a bit, but earlier in the same park was the most amazing aerial display of thousands of starlings formation flying, you've got to see it to appreciate it, description nor photographs do it any sort of justice but the closest description I can give is that it was like watching a cloud doing ballet.

I've seen them in cloud formation amazjng and the robin red breasts seem to be so familiar and super confident with people.

Mind you I do duck when a flock of Canadian Geese fly over me. Huds up.

Just noticed I got my B's and D's mixed up, those figures were for a B 5 W SC ..

The D 5 W SC  doesn't go as low as the low temp is 2400watt with 0.27l/h.   The high temp is more efficient tho; 5000watt with 0.62l/h.    For the way boaters normally use these devices it's probably better.

Cheers, I was only using it for 1 hour 30 to take the chill off or warm the water for the shower, but yet they do sound a bit full on for such a small unit.

I use my stove 80% more, but from now on I will put it on for 3 hours at a time at 1.83lh.

It ain't their to look at after all.

we have tawny owls (several pairs) in the small bit of woodland opposite the house (very noisy at times), a pair of barn owls in the area, not sure where they live (6 suitable barns / structures close by) and as a nice bonus 2 pairs of little owls, one pair in a barn 100 yards from my house and the other pair seem to alternate between the woods and another barn

The ones near me 20ft away are in woods tooooo.

    Brill.

    So according to the manual....

    Fuel consumption (l/h)

    5000watt 0.69l/h

    1500watt 0.2l/h

So if left on it will use around 4.8 litres per day minimum, on average it will be what ever it needs to keep your boat at your choosen temperature (1.5kw should be enough for most boats at a reasonable temperature for most of the time)

Of course these heaters are not designed for 24hr use, but they are not thirsty either and are quite efficient.

Thanks, that's not too expensive then,  I will put it on a lot more now I know that.

    Cheers for the information.

If it uses 1litre an hour it will be around 10kw device.   If your boat needs a constant 10kw to keep it warm then you either have a very big boat or no insulation.  Whoever told you was wrong.

    It's a D5Wsc Robbo  so am only guessing it's 5kw then.

....but back on topic. The 'wit wooing' is from the Tawny Owl (rather than owls in general) and it is a duet....not commonly appreciated. The female does the 'Toowit' and the male responds with the 'Toowoo'. So, you are hearing two of them.  Now, if they are going to ban females with not a lot of clothes on from F1 races, what hope have we got for female tawny owls....who dont wear a lot of clothes.

Yes their were definitely two Dr Bob.

    Really nice sound.
