I was looking at that Denis,
Sounds a bit different to our problem, as they have built a garden I can only guess they aren't on BW moorings.
Perhaps they are moored where the entrance is going to be ?
NBWAs usual with NBW only half a story and no actual facts

Good one Carl
It just shows that there are not alot of people queuing up to get on the waterways
But the moorings in question aren't the best
I wonder what will happen to the moorings that had no tenders ?
will BW offer them to the people they kicked off the waiting lists ?
-
Thanks Carl
But where are the results ?

Where are you lot looking
All I can see is :
Or have they read your Comments and removed it ?

People tried to stop them but some fools cannot be helped. In the harbour it would have been OK but as soon as they went out, they must have been horrified at the sea state.
They must have known of the see state before they left their mooring ?
Last night the enviroment agency were giving out flood warnings for the Yorkshire coast !
I wonder what was so important that they dared risk it/was it even their boat ?
Whatever the cause its still a sad loss of life .

I don't know what the problem is with dogs, I often take my Saint Bernard on the canal in my boat, I find it very convenient being on the canal, as my dog can jump out whenever he wants to do his business on the canal towpath. Someone once shouted at me when they saw my dog doing his business on the path, but luckily I was in the boat and my dog jumped back in so we sailed off, I couldn't help laughing at the person as they were getting so angry, especially when they saw me laughing at them in my boat. As my dog is a Saint Bernard, he doesn't half make a big dollop!
Are you sure you've got a boat Maureen ?
Canal boats don't go fast enough ?
The linch mob would have caught you up by the next lock, dragged you back and rubbed your nose in it

That about sums things up
Its also come to my attention that the former Illegal mooring site at Thane Road has now been made an official winter mooring site this year !
I thought BW were supposed to be reducing online mooring sites not creating new ones on narrow bends on the canal system ?
See the BW price list if you don't believe me 2007/2008 price list
Can anyone spot anywhere else on the list where this has been done ?

I have not seen any plans for the Saul Marina but assume the entrance for boats will be between the boatyard and road bridge on the Stroudwater . If thats so it would seem a fair bet that it will be the Saul Junction Boat Club Moorers that will get the eviction notice as getting boats in and out there will not be easy . Boats will still have to negotiate the two swing footbridges at the junction which can be interesting with the one on the G & S in a high wind. Cannot see the point in closing linear moorings on the G & S , as the canal is 100 feet wide and 16 feet deep they dont cause any problem to navigation.
Well its the same at Sawley and their closing ours

While driving through Birmingham the other week my eye was caught by the unusual lighting
under the viaduct over the Farmers Bridge flight.

Castle also increased the minimum berth length fee to 30ft from 26ft
I was paying £160 per quarter for my 18 it went up to £242 per quarter in one hit
Thats an increase of over 50% !!!
So if your marina has been taken over by Castle beware !
You'd have thought Castle marina would have been empty ? But its full of boats that don't move !

enourmous. Do you know any figures on the size of it?
Not sure to be exact but I've seen it quoted as 100 Meters by 24 Meters

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing that with us.
One day I know I'll have to make that trip. Can you make it down one river and up the other, without having to anchor up and wait for the tide? We'd presumably (at 67') have to go from Stockwith to Goole (and vice-versa) in one hop.
Allan
Its all a matter of timeing , I pushed the tide from Keadby (their fault not mine) , then went with the tide up the Ouse.
My plan had been to go down the Trent on the last of the tide then push for a short time on the Ouse.
A NB Skipper from the Pocklington Canal told me he will go with the tide down the trent, then continue slowly with the tide down the Humber towards the Bridge untill the tide turns , then turn and go with it up the Ouse.
There is a charge of £17.56p to use Ocean Lock at Goole
Big Isn't it ?

I often leave a light on in dark places, people are more likely to think someone is on board.
all in all thats what an anchor light is for , to light and show the position of your mooring.
-
Why not leave your anchor light on in dark places .
No anchor light then fit one .
if you turned on your tunnel light you would probably just blind yourself and end up falling in the cut
