  1. Rob M, that is a very good question. Despite having Gold Membership, because they came out and diagnosed they said they wouldn't come and fix the problem as they didn't have the resources. I have been 'in negotiation' with them for the past three weeks. Now they have agreed to do the work but only if I can get to Uxbridge. Rant over. I just hope someone can help me out and tow me to Uxbridge.
  2. Thanks Junior that seems to the best option. No, I haven't heard of Ralph kits. I have River Canal Rescue membership and they will fix if I can get a tow to Uxbridge.....
  3. Lexicon, asap really but if someone was planning to pass through in a couple of weeks I wouldn't pass up the offer?
  4. Kris, Thanks for the recommendation, sadly, I'm not on Facebook. Best wishes, Donna
  5. Hello, I need a tow to Uxbridge or towards Uxbridge. I am currently in London, E5 (close to Springfield park). My boat engine is broken and I need to get to Uxbridge for it to be repaired. No engineers want to come into London, understandably. I'm well and truly stuck. Is there a kind soul who is heading in that direction any time soon that would be willing to give me a tow? I have a 48' narrowboat. Many thanks in advance. Donna.
  6. This is really helpful info Bizzard. I was under the impression the engineer would have done that when he replaced the impeller, but it is definitely worth me having a go. RWLP, actually it's not raw water, I fill it from a header tank which I am told is a unique design for listers i.e. this seems to be an anomaly as engineers all claim to have never seen another like it.
  7. Thanks for your suggestions. Impeller has already been replaced. The annoying thing is the jabsco pump was also replaced a couple of years ago but now RCR have told me it was probably faulty at time of installation...grrrr... As the engine is overheating and the pipework not circulating water sufficiently, I can't move the boat. A reliable, experienced mobile engineer is what I am searching for. Thanks Larkshall, I am going to look into agricultural mobile engineers
  8. My Lister 2 cylinder wc engine has been diagnosed as having a faulty water pump as well as requires new hosing for the cooling system (header tank filled). I am having real problems getting an engineer to come out to do the work. Can anyone recommend an engineer that is happy to work in London. I am moored in E5, close to Springfield Park. Many thanks in advance.
