so, if I could find a marina, within easy travelling distance of M25/london to allow me to carry on working (I'm a night working pest controller for london underground)
do they have parking areas for cars/vans (I have one of each)
do you pay for parking spaces ?
what would be a ball park figure for monthly payments to live in a marina ?
I'm probably laying out around £1000 a month to live in a flat
do they allow pets (small jrt)
do you pay council tax ?
The answers to those questions is, depends on the mooring/marina.
The definitive answers will only be found out by contacting all the marinas in the area you want to be.

Can only advise another trip down the hatch,
Check the shaft at the rear of the prop, before it enters the boat..
It may be something, that is tightening on the shaft but only in reverse.
Also check the nut that holds the prop on, have had detritus attached to that that then goes back into the prop and fouls it.

Fridge, pah! you should try an electric kettle.

On offer at aldi from Sunday 2000/1600w inverter generator £269.99
69b @7m
Does it come with ear defenders.

to save having to screw in then screw out the dipstick...
Rest the dipstick in the hole, if the oil reaches the bottom mark that is the correct level.
If you do not believe me, check it for your self.

Just worth mentioning that the windows 10 upgrade is over 3gb in size so if you've got limited monthly bandwidth like me then you need to consider how the download is going to impact on your monthly data allowance and whether it is worth the loss of data.
go to the pub and use the free wi-fi.

Whatever the gauge says when it is connected.
They are not the most accurate of gauges.
it will also depend on the thermostat in the engine.
Ball park figure 75° C

I used to have a friend called Dave Elson. He was rather boastful, so people reckoned that he was full of sh...
But I digress. Thanks, Martyn, for the info. Fortunately, Braunston has its fair share of facilities: there is an Elsan disposal facility between the Turn and the Marina, for instance.
One man's "pedantry" is another man's accuracy!
but that is the nearest one to the Stop House and my reading of the first post is the one out of order.

Any idea why?
Sorry no but as laters posts intimate the edging (wood) is rotting, badly damaged also the bank appears to be sinking.
A tad more information would be helpful. ie. "No Mooring"? - "24hrs" ? - "7days"? or whatever.
It is a bit difficult to give a reasoned response if we don't know any details.
Response not required just giving information. as to duration probably the twelfth of never before C&RT do anything else.
And what on earth is plastic rash??
That rather fetching orange plastic 'fencing'
-
Bridge 10 to bridge 9.
Plastic rash is being erected today (17-06-2016) between bridges.
-
Where are they located?
Showers and toilets dock side by the paddlle/hotel boats, Edward Elgar, ust before Llanthony bridge (bascule). Moor in dock or just south Llanthony bridge (either side).
Pump out, water, rubbish disposal immediateley south Llanthony bridge (bascule) (on your right)

The only reason to buy an A to B alternator regulator is if your existing alternator is old and does not charge at 14+ volts.
It may charge quicker but it will also 'boil' the electrolyte off.
-
I think it has been mentioned before but remember to check licence requirements for the Avon.
http://www.avonnavigationtrust.org/
Your C&RT licence does not cover the Avon.
As you are entering one end and leaving the other I beleive (not checked) the minimum licence is seven days, see above link.
-
almost just drop the last h.
Answer is 10 amps, now the length of time you use that 10 amps will be amp.hrs
-
The Avon will cost £50 for seven days this is the minimum licence you can have as you will enter one end and leave at the other.

I hadn't realised it only charged when on shoreline/ generator, and that the 'combi' would just be needed for any 240v things when cruising, that's helpful, thank you.
The only thing we have on 240v is the plug sockets which don't seem to work (tried a phone charger) but I assumed this is because the domestic batteries are not sufficiently charged.
I think it may be the boat's way of saying she wants to go out cruising again.
It may well be that you are not getting 240v ac from the 'combi' inverter because he batteries are discharged
If you only have one or more sockets and they were not in use, when cruising (engine running) then the batteries should have charged from the alternator
Now you have shoreline then the batteries should be being charged from the 'combi' charger.
Paul C is on the correct track, lots of checking ( engine not running, engine running, shoreline connected and On) with a multi-meter to check voltages at different points and possibly amps also.

Christine
I think you may be confusing your self, you have what is known as a 'combi' it is an inverter to give you 240v ac from your domestic 12or24v dc batteries, it also has a charger in the same box that will charge your domestic batteries only when on shoreline or a generator is available.
To charge your domestic batteries you can either use shoreline or generator via the 'combi' (charger) or run the engine and the alternator will do it.
the invertor stayed switched on and was charging the domestic batteries,
This is not or should not be possible, the inverter may be ON to supply the 240v ac but it will not be charging the batteries the charger does that.
Remember the charger only works when on shoreline or generator.
Without shoreline or generator then the alternator on the propulsion engine does the charging.
If you were using 240v ac whilst cruising the alternator will be supply the 12or24v dc to the inverter and then the 240v ac,
If the load is greater than the alternator can supply then your batteries will not be charged, all the alternator power will be going to the inverter to supply the 240vac.
I do not know the Sterling but if it has an output for domestic and start battery (charging) you could disconnect the charge wire from the start battery and connect to the domestic battery with the existing charge lead. You may wish to get this confirmed by someone that knows the unit.

Recently bought from Tayna, excellent service
and the Trojans are working well.
https://www.tayna.co.uk/Trojan-Batteries-S1188-1.html?ordering=&A-8=12&A-7=130
130 amp.hr deep cycle, open wet lead acid and the same physical size as 'standard' leisure batteries.
-
Taking Alan's figure, which I was about to post, you would need a battery bank of at least 2,800 amp.hrs and a charger of at least 280 amps.
Frank (Blazeaway) how are you getting this figure of 100 Kwh's (100,000 wh's)

Apparently I'll have "weak outdoor" 4G coverage from EE
My suggestion will improve the reception but of course it is costly.
My Mi-Fi unit can also be set to receive '4g only', this stops the tendency for the MI-FI to switch to a stronger but slower 3g signal.
-
or
you buy your own Mi-FI that has connections for aerials.
examples only;
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011YZYWEY?psc=1
and one or two of these to go with it.
http://www.solwise.co.uk/3g-antenna-outdoor.htm
The aerials go outside, (magnetic mount), the cables brought through a mushroom vent and the laptop etc. are connected by wi-fi.
-
Going thru a mushroom vent does the grease not sit on the roof around the vent?
No the grease filter deals with that and the charcoal filter is not required as the smells go outside,
Ours has been in nearly seven years and not had to clean the grease filter yet but there again we never cook anything that would make grease, only steam.

As said check the level markers (riverside of the locks) only go in green or phone the lock keeper, the first one you will come to on the river for advice.
The Droitwich junction is not obvious when going down stream, the only clue is a pontoon and a large house, painted cream the last time I went down.
It is a turn back on yourself so, be aware of being taken downstream when you turn broadside to the flow.
Moorings from the junction, none at the junction, to Droitwich are rare and those that there are, are in reeds and the boat sitting on the bottom a plank will be required.
I seem to remember that it took about four hours from the Severn to Droitwich but do not quote me on that.
Good moorings in Droitwich, small basin on your left as you arrive.
